Scouting Report

5.24.20
Solid athletic frame 6-foot-2, 190-pounds. Put on a great swing on a ball in the game, lining a ball into the right-centerfield gap resulting in a triple. Behind the dish, had accurate throws with strong in game throws at 1.98-2.04.

3.5.20
The 6-foot-2, 190-pounder possesses broad shoulders with a barrel chest and some natural strength throughout, and still has room to add to the frame. Behind the plate he showcased quick feet and transfer with accurate, relaxed throws between innings, and was not tested during the first game before shifting out to third base in game two. A right-handed hitter, Hawkins sets up slightly open with an athletic base, loading the hands down and back with a short stride. There is some stillness to the hands before the pursuit on a slightly uphill plane, but they drive the barrel fast through the zone with some strength, and he demonstrated an ability to drive the ball to the opposite gap in delivering the triple. Hawkins will likely play a vital role in Plano’ success as a defender behind the plate, and providing protection for Foster at the top of the order.

1.5.19
6-foot-1, 175-pounds. The right-handed hitter has a balanced setup and shows simple strength in his hack at the plate and posted a top exit velocity of 90 mph. Loose hands with lag in the barrel through the zone and an inside-out path on a slightly uphill plane. Hard contact during BP with a gap approach. Behind the plate, he threw 74 mph from the crouch with pop times ranging from 2.12-2.26 seconds.
