Each week during the high school season, we will be announcing the Mizuno Pitcher and Player of the Week for that particular week. Numerous players across the state continue to put up impressive numbers both as position players and pitchers on the mound. This year we will be selecting one Pitcher of the Week and one Player of the Week based on nominations from high school coaches across the state.

Let's take a look at the Mizuno Player and Pitcher of the Week for Week 2 (Feb 24-Mar 2).

MIZUNO PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Lubin Rincon SS / Shadow Creek, TX / 2027 Rankings  StateRank: 4 / POS: 1 OverallRank: 25 / POS: 8 One of the premier 2027 shortstops in Texas, Lubin Rincon put together an impressive performance at the plate this past week, solidifying his reputation as a standout prospect from Houston. Rincon showcased his advanced hit tool and approach, going 11-for-16 (.688 AVG) with a home run, three doubles, six RBIs, and nine runs scored. His plate discipline was equally impressive, drawing five walks, further proving his ability to get on base and create scoring opportunities for his team. Rincon’s ability to consistently barrel the baseball while also controlling the strike zone makes him a must-watch player in the 2027 class. His bat-to-ball skills and power potential continue to trend in the right direction, making him a key name for college recruiters and scouts to follow closely.

MIZUNO PITCHER OF THE WEEK

Bryce Krenek LHP / 1B / Katy Taylor, TX / 2026 Rankings  StateRank: 17 / POS: 2 OverallRank: 134 / POS: 11 Bryce Krenek, one of the top 2026 LHPs in Texas, delivered an unforgettable performance this week, tossing a 7-inning perfect game with 18 strikeouts. The Houston native and Texas commit was untouchable on the mound, allowing zero hits, zero walks, and zero runs, dominating the entire game. We have already seen Krenek up to 92 mph this season, and his fastball-curveball combo continues to give hitters fits. His ability to command both pitches and generate swings and misses at an high rate makes him one of the top arms in the 2026 class. This latest outing only solidifies his status as a premier left-handed prospect in the state.
