North Texas Preseason All-State: Catcher Analysis

On Saturday, January 11th, the PB Texas staff traveled to Texas Christian University to host the North Texas Preseason All-State, an invite-only event for the class of 2025-2028.
More than 60 players made their way to Rice University and participated in a pro-style workout, gathering unrivaled access to data through our state-of-the-art tech partners, as well as in-depth scouting analysis from our Prep Baseball Texas staff.

Today, we take a look at the scouting reports from each catcher in attendance as well as rank the top 5 from the day.

Positional Profile: C/3B Body: 6-0, 197-pounds. Good build frame to add strength in future. Has done a good job of increasing strength in past year along with firming body up. Nice dedication seen, expect he will continue to improve physically. Hit: RHH. Lands in good position to hit. Rotational back side, does a good job of using lower 1/2 driving into firm front side. Opportunity to continue to develop driving lower 1/2 forward. Overall, good approach that will continue to improve. Hands/barrel in good launch position. Solid path to zone with barrel finding baseball. Shows solid contact. Work to develop ability to use all fields and take what pitcher is giving. 76.4 mph bat speed with 16 G's of rotational acceleration. Power: 101 max exit velocity, averaged 92.5 mph. 344' max distance. Solid bat/power combo in future. Solid approach and swing showing nice contact. Has made nice adjustments in past year, will continue to develop at plate as he refines his abilities. Arm: RH. C-82 mph. Arm works, solid accurate throws, carry present. Defense: 1.83-2.01 pop times. Firm glove to hand exchange, feet work well setting to throw. Did a nice job of receiving pens handling different arms. ATH: 21.90 max vertical.
