South Texas Preseason All-State: Quick Hits

On Sunday, January 5th, the Prep Baseball Texas staff hosted the South Texas Preseason All-State in Houston, TX. This event was host to more than 65 players from the classes of 2025-2028, and gave our staff one final look at some of the top players in the area before their spring seasons kick off.
We have already released a Statistical Analysis from the event, that highlights the top measurable data performers from the event. Today, we will highlight the top players that stood out to our staff over the course of the event.
QUICK HITS
Easton Brunson (Goose Creek, 2027), a 5'11", 198-pound prospect, is a versatile LHH 1B/OF with a strong, projectable frame. At the plate, Brunson generates consistent hard contact, highlighted by a max exit velocity of 99 mph and a 359-foot max distance. With solid bat and hand speed (73.9 mph, 20 G's rotational acceleration), he shows a promising bat/power combo. Defensively, Brunson has a strong arm (87 mph from the OF, 82 mph from the INF) with good carry on throws. He moves well at first base and has solid hands, making him a reliable defender. Brunson continues to develop his game and shows great potential.
Truett Allen (Second Baptist, 2027), a 6'1", 205-pound, versatile RHH 3B/OF with a strong, projectable frame. At the plate, Allen uses a crouched stance with a wide base and shows a contact-oriented approach, producing line drives with pull-side power. He recorded a max exit velocity of 99 mph and shows a solid bat/power combo with room for further development. Defensively, Allen displays impressive arm strength (97 mph from the OF, 91 mph from the INF) and the ability to throw from multiple angles. He moves well in the outfield and shows clean glove-to-hand exchanges. Allen has the athleticism and tools to continue growing into an impactful player.
Cash Clayton (The Woodlands, 2027), a 6'5", 201-pound sophomore, is an athletic RHH OF with an impressive combination of size and athleticism for his age. At the plate, Clayton shows a developing bat/power combo, recording a max exit velocity of 96 mph and a max distance of 323 feet. Defensively, his arm strength stands out, topping out at 93 mph from the outfield, with the potential to develop into a plus tool. He moves well to the baseball, showing good athleticism and clean glove-to-hand exchanges. Clayton ran a 6.89 60, further showcasing his rare blend of physicality and athleticism for his age.
Hudson Cuevas (Cedar Park, 2027), a 5'9", 174-pound sophomore, is a versatile 2B/RHP with a strong, athletic build and room to add more strength. At the plate, Cuevas combines bat speed (72.3 mph) and rotational acceleration (20 G's) to produce impressive power, with a max exit velocity of 103 mph and a max distance of 379 feet. His swing shows a good path to the zone with extension, highlighting his potential as a hitter. Defensively, Cuevas displays solid footwork, quick hands, and an 84 mph infield arm with carry on his throws. Cuevas consistently performs in games, demonstrating his ability to translate his tools to live action. He’s a well-rounded player with the tools to continue developing at a high level.
Travis Fiedler (Ridge Point, 2028), is a 5'11", 165-pound LHH SS/3B with a projectable frame and standout athleticism. Ranked as the #3 baseball player in Texas and #8 nationally in his class, Fiedler continues to impress with his all-around game. At the plate, he displays a developing bat/power combo, recording a max exit velocity of 95 mph and a max distance of 337 feet. His swing features a solid barrel path with room to unlock more consistency and power as he matures. Defensively, Fiedler shows good footwork, quick hands, and an 84 mph arm with carry. He plays through the ball well and adjusts effectively to ground balls. A 6.93 runner in the 60, Fiedler runs well and is expected to continue improving his speed and strength. In addition to his baseball success, he is also a quarterback, further showcasing his athleticism.
Dominic Naylor (Home School, 2027), a 6'1", 187-pound sophomore, is a RHH SS/RHP with a projectable frame and impressive athleticism. A plus runner with a 6.87 60 time, Naylor has put significant work into the weight room, and it’s paying off. His physicality stands out, and he boasts some of the biggest power in the 2027 class, recording a max exit velocity of 105 mph and a max distance of 389 feet. At the plate, his swing works well through the zone, producing consistent hard contact and showcasing a promising bat/power combo. Defensively, Naylor displays an above-average arm (86 mph infield velocity) with accurate throws and solid footwork, showing the ability to play through the baseball. With his combination of power, speed, and athleticism, Naylor has all the tools to impact a game.
Levi Leathers (Axtell, 2027), a 6'3", 203-pound sophomore, is a RHH 3B/1B with a strong, projectable frame and impressive athleticism for his size and age. At the plate, Leathers shows a developing bat/power combo, recording a max exit velocity of 95 mph and a max distance of 355 feet. His swing features a solid barrel path, and as he refines his lower-half mechanics, his ability to make consistent impact will continue to improve. Defensively, Leathers moves well for his size, showing good first-step quickness, soft hands, and the ability to field the ball out front while playing through with his feet. With his actions and arm strength (76 mph infield velocity), he has the potential to be a plus defender at either corner infield spot. Leathers has the tools and physicality to grow into a high-level corner infielder with power potential.
Christian Hamilton (Manvel, 2027), a 6'0", 149-pound sophomore, is a RHH SS/OF with a lean, projectable frame built to add strength. At the plate, Hamilton showcases a developing bat/power combo, highlighted by a max exit velocity of 92 mph and a max distance of 346 feet. His swing features good use of the lower half and solid extension through the baseball, with bat speed (65.1 mph) and rotational acceleration (16 G's) supporting his ability to generate hard contact. Defensively, Hamilton moves well with a quick first step, playing through the ball with clean actions and an 85 mph infield arm. A 6.94 runner in the 60, Hamilton’s speed and athleticism will only improve as he matures, giving him the tools to succeed at multiple positions. With his upside at the plate and in the field, Hamilton has a bright future ahead.
Ryan Steele (Victoria East, 2026), a 6'0", 193-pound junior, is a RHH OF with a strong, athletic build and plenty of room to add strength. At the plate, Steele shows a promising bat/power combo, highlighted by a max exit velocity of 102 mph and a max distance of 349 feet. He uses his lower half well and produces consistent hard contact with good barrel control and extension in his swing. Defensively, Steele moves well to the ball, showing clean actions, quick exchanges, and accurate throws with an arm topping out at 89 mph. A 6.52 runner in the 60, Steele is a plus runner with the potential to further elevate his speed. As one of the top uncommitted position players in Texas, Steele’s combination of athleticism and offensive upside makes him a high-level prospect to follow.
Bayler Schilling (Canyon, 2026), a 6'2", 186-pound junior, is a RHP with a projectable frame and athleticism on the mound. His fastball sits 88-89 mph with tailing action to the arm side, showing effective down-plane action in the zone and some carry when elevated. Schilling also features a curveball (70-71 mph) that flashes solid action when released consistently, and a developing changeup (78-79 mph) with tail and sink. His delivery utilizes his lower half well, and with continued refinement to timing and finish, his overall consistency will improve. Schilling’s arm speed and frame suggest future velocity gains. He’s part of a strong group of talented West Texas arms we had the chance to see this preseason, adding to the region's exciting crop of pitching prospects.
Carson Sharp (Liberty Hill, 2026), a 6'3", 206-pound junior, is a versatile RHH C/1B/RHP with a strong, projectable frame. Behind the plate, Sharp is a solid defensive player with good receiving skills and consistent pop times. At the plate, he shows a developing bat/power combo, producing hard contact and projecting for more as he matures. On the mound, Sharp works exclusively from the stretch, featuring a fastball that sits 89-90 mph with tail and sink to the arm side and solid life in the zone. His low release height adds deception and enhances the effectiveness of his pitches. His slider (80-82 mph) shows short, sweeping action with spin rates up to 2510 rpm, and his changeup (83-85 mph) features turnover action with fair deception. Sharp’s delivery and arm action work well, and his raw stuff indicates significant upside as his velocity and secondary pitches continue to develop. He is part of an exciting group of multi-talented prospects in the 2026 class.
Judson Dowell (Lamar, 2026), a 6'0", 195-pound junior and a Texas A&M commit, is an athletic RHH OF with a strong, projectable frame. At the plate, Dowell combines bat speed (77.9 mph) and rotational acceleration (16 G's) to generate elite power, highlighted by a max exit velocity of 108 mph—the best of the preseason across all Texas events—and an average exit velocity of 100.1 mph. His efficient swing and solid hit approach allow him to consistently impact the baseball. Defensively, Dowell showcases arm strength (95 mph from the outfield) and clean actions, moving well to the baseball with a solid glove-to-hand exchange. He also hopped on the mound, where he filled the zone with an upper-80s fastball that projects for even more velocity. A 6.54 runner in the 60, he’s already a plus runner with the potential to develop into a well above-average athlete as he matures. With his athleticism and tools, Dowell is one of the most dynamic players in the 2026 class.
Brady Ekdall (Lake Creek, 2027), a 6'2", 192-pound sophomore, is a LHH OF/3B with a strong, athletic frame and room to add more strength. At the plate, Ekdall looks imposing in the box, showing a developing bat/power combo highlighted by a max exit velocity of 96 mph and a max distance of 367 feet. His swing is built on a solid base and approach, with the potential to tap into even more power as he matures. Defensively, Ekdall moves well for his size, showing smooth actions in the outfield and arm strength up to 90 mph with carry. A 6.88 runner in the 60, he brings athleticism and speed that will only improve with added physicality.
Harrison Williams (Monsignor Kelly Catholic, 2027), a 5'10", 187-pound sophomore, is a SH C/INF with a strong, projectable frame and tools to continue developing. Switch-hitting catchers who can add value on both sides of the ball are rare, and Williams fits that mold. At the plate, he shows a solid bat/power combo, highlighted by a max exit velocity of 99 mph. He consistently makes hard contact from both sides of the plate, with a balanced swing and line-drive approach. Defensively, Williams is versatile, showing smooth actions and an 84 mph arm across the infield, along with 2.07-2.09 pop times and accuracy behind the plate. He receives and frames well and handles pitchers with ease. With room to add strength and refine his mechanics, Williams has a great foundation to build upon and is poised to make significant strides as he matures.
Jackson Wooten (Atascocita, 2027), a 5'9", 146-pound sophomore, is a RHH SS/2B with a projectable frame and elite speed, running a 6.46 60—the best time across all preseason events. A top-of-the-order bat, Wooten’s game is built around his speed, but he also brings surprising juice at the plate, highlighted by a max exit velocity of 97 mph. His swing features a solid base and good path to the zone, making consistent hard contact. Defensively, Wooten’s 84 mph arm allows him to throw accurately from all angles, and he shows quick footwork and smooth actions in the infield. Known for his bounce and energy on the field, Wooten is a fun player to watch with the tools to make an impact in all facets of the game.
Carson Allen (Canyon, 2026), a 6'0", 182-pound junior and a Tarleton State University commit, is a versatile LHH SS/RHP with a strong, projectable frame. At the plate, Allen shows a promising bat/power combo, highlighted by a max exit velocity of 97 mph and an average of 92.1 mph. His swing is built on a solid base with good bat speed (73.4 mph) and rotational acceleration (16 G's), and as he refines his mechanics, there’s potential for his hit tool to exceed expectations. Defensively, Allen demonstrates versatility with smooth actions and an 85 mph arm in the infield, along with a 92 mph arm in the outfield that shows carry when he stays behind the baseball. He also hops on the mound, where his fastball sits in the mid to upper 80s and he shows the ability to spin it effectively. A 7.06 runner in the 60, Allen combines defensive versatility, offensive upside, and pitching potential. Another standout from the deep pool of West Texas talent.
John Dolan (Hargrave, 2026), a 5'11", 204-pound junior, is an uncommitted LHH C/3B/RHP with a strong, projectable frame. At the plate, Dolan showcases a developing bat/power combo with a max exit velocity of 99 mph and consistent hard contact from both sides. Defensively, he records pop times of 1.94-2.02 with solid footwork, a quick release, and accurate throws (79 mph). His infield actions are smooth, with an 82 mph arm and the ability to throw from multiple angles.
On the mound, Dolan features an 86 mph fastball with sink and tail, complemented by a curveball (74-77 mph) with sharp spin, a deceptive changeup (77-81 mph), and a splitter (78-79 mph). With a starter’s mix and the ability to throw strikes, Dolan has significant two-way potential and room for growth as he continues to develop.
Braddock Raven (Victoria East, 2026), a junior, is a RHP/SS with a highly projectable frame and an exceptionally quick arm. His fastball sits 88-89 mph with two-seam tail and sink, and there’s no doubt he’ll add velocity as he continues to mature physically. Raven pairs his fastball with a sharp slider (76-78 mph) featuring spin rates up to 2761 rpm, a curveball (70-72 mph) with 12-5 action, and a deceptive changeup (79-80 mph) that shows tail and sink. With his clean delivery, athleticism, and ability to spin the ball, Raven consistently competes and finds ways to win. His poise on the mound and advanced feel for pitching make him a reliable performer with exciting upside.
Jude Mondello (Monsignor Kelly Catholic, 2025), a junior, is a RHP/OF with a projectable frame and room to add strength. Mondello features a fastball sitting 84-85 mph from an overhand slot, showing quality down-plane action at the bottom of the zone and enough carry to play up in the zone. His curveball (71-73 mph) has solid spin rates up to 2429 rpm, with 12-5 shape and depth to generate swing-and-miss. His changeup (77 mph) is a reliable secondary pitch, showing tail and sink with deception. Mondello repeats his delivery well, utilizing his lower half effectively, and his quick arm suggests more velocity is on the way. A true winner who knows how to pitch, Mondello’s ability to command the zone and compete sets him apart. With continued physical development, he has the potential to be a big steal for a college program.
Reid Tyner (Monsignor Kelly Catholic, 2028), a freshman, is a LHH OF/2B with a projectable frame and athleticism that points to a bright future. A 6.88 runner in the 60, Tyner already shows solid speed with the potential to develop into a plus runner as he matures. At the plate, Tyner exhibits a developing bat/power combo with a line-drive approach, highlighted by a solid swing foundation and rotational acceleration (20 G's). As he continues to refine his mechanics and add strength, his offensive potential will grow significantly.
Defensively, Tyner moves well to the ball with clean glove-to-hand exchanges. With his athleticism and tools, Tyner is a young player to watch as he develops physically and refines his game.
Parker George (Buda Johnson, 2027), a sophomore, is a RHH OF/RHP with a highly projectable 6'0" frame and standout athleticism. A 6.76 runner in the 60, George is already a plus runner with the potential to get even faster as he adds strength. At the plate, he shows a developing bat/power combo, highlighted by a max exit velocity of 94 mph and a swing with solid barrel control. His ability to consistently improve offensively complements his tools on the mound.
On the mound, George’s future is limitless. His fastball sits 85-87 mph, topping at 88, with arm quickness and clean mechanics. He pairs it with a promising slider (70-72 mph) and a deceptive changeup (75-77 mph) that features tail and sink. With true two-way ability, George’s potential as a pitcher stands out. He’s part of an absolutely loaded sophomore class at Buda Johnson and is a player to watch closely as he continues to develop.
Aiden Shreve (Pieper, 2026), a 6'4", 200-pound RHP and Baylor commit is an exciting prospect with a highly projectable frame and a bright future. A Future Games participant last summer, his progression over the last two years has been fun to watch, and he’s only scratching the surface of where he’s headed. His delivery is smooth and efficient, utilizing his lower half well and working over his front leg with strong chest engagement.
The fastball sits 87-90 mph, topping at 91, with solid plane and the ability to play both down in the zone and elevated. He’s a strike thrower and projects to gain more velocity as he continues to mature. His slider (78-81 mph) flashes sharp action and has the potential to be a consistent out pitch with improved release. The changeup (81-83 mph) features tail and sink, showing as a quality secondary pitch with continued development. With his physicality and upside, he’s a must-watch arm in the coming years.
Jackson Jones (Monsignor Kelly Catholic, 2027), a sophomore, is a LHH SS/2B with a projectable frame and solid tools on both sides of the ball. At the plate, Jones shows a developing bat/power combo, highlighted by a max exit velocity of 90 mph and a strong swing foundation. His lower-half mechanics work well, and with adjustments to his posture at contact, he can further enhance his line-drive approach and offensive consistency.
Defensively, Jones features an impressive 91 mph arm with quickness, and that arm strength carries over to the mound, where his fastball reaches 88 mph. He shows good extension and creates hop at the top of the zone with his fastball, while his breaking ball displays two-plane shape. His footwork is solid, with good first-step quickness and clean actions through the ball. Jones is a fun player to watch with athleticism, tools, and significant upside as he adds strength and continues to develop his game.
Kade Estrada (Angleton, 2027), a sophomore, is a RHH SS/2B with a projectable 6'0", 164-pound frame and tools that continue to develop. At the plate, Estrada displays a solid bat/power combo, highlighted by a max exit velocity of 92 mph and consistent hard contact. His swing features a linear lower-half movement and good barrel control, with plenty of room for increased bat speed and power as he adds strength.
Defensively, Estrada shows smooth actions with developing arm strength (81 mph) and the ability to throw from multiple angles. His footwork and hands work well together, and he consistently gets into position to make plays. A 7.13 runner in the 60, Estrada runs hard and projects to improve his overall athleticism and speed as he matures. With his skill set and upside, Estrada has the foundation to grow into a reliable middle infielder with offensive impact.
Caden Stambolis (Taylor, 2026), a 6'0", 181-pound RHP features a good frame with room to add strength and develop further. His fastball sits 86-88 mph, showing life at the top of the zone and arm-side run. A strike thrower, he projects to add velocity as his physicality and arm speed continue to improve.
His slider (77-80 mph) flashes quality action with short, sharp break and has the potential to become a consistent swing-and-miss pitch as he firms up his release. The changeup (80-82 mph) complements his fastball well, featuring tail and sink with fair deception. With his clean delivery, quick arm, and projectable build, he has the tools to keep progressing and is an exciting arm to watch.
Jackson Dippel (Second Baptist, 2026), a junior, is a RHP/SS with a projectable 5'11", 165-pound frame and room to add strength. His fastball sits 86-88 mph, touching 89, with arm-side tail and carry at the top of the zone.
Dippel’s curveball (74-75 mph) shows solid action and depth, capable of generating swing-and-miss when located. His changeup (81-82 mph) features sink and fade, projecting as an effective secondary pitch with continued refinement. A consistent performer and a winner on the mound, Dippel utilizes his lower half well in his delivery and shows good arm speed, suggesting additional velocity gains as he matures. He is a competitive and reliable arm with tools to watch closely.
