The Texas Scout Blog is where you will be able to find all the notes and video from our boots-on-the-ground scouting team on the top players we see over the course of the spring season. This season, we will have separate scout blogs; one for uncommitted prospects, and one for committed prospects.
Below, you can read up on the committed standouts from week two of high school play…
WEEK 1
Nico Partida
Position: SS/RHP
School: Pearland High School (2025)
Commitment: Texas A&M
Nico Partida, a dynamic shortstop and right-handed pitcher from Pearland High School and Texas A&M commit, had his first outing of the spring, throwing one inning with a fastball that sat between 94-98 mph. He’s a good athlete on the mound, and his arm speed is elite, making his fastball a real weapon. His curveball ranged from 74-77 mph, and he also flashed a changeup at 82 mph. While his secondary pitches were scattered, the explosive fastball definitely stood out. Partida is the top two-way talent in the state and has a chance to hit double-digit home runs this season, having been a consistent force at the plate with barrel after barrel throughout the weekend. One of the best competitors and winners in Texas, Partida will be heavily followed throughout the spring by big league teams for this summer's draft.
Cole Koeninger
Position: SS/P
School: Keller (2026)
Commitment: Tennessee
Prep Baseball All-American, Future Gamer
Cole Koeninger, a Tennessee commit and Prep Baseball All-American, continues to rise as one of the top players in the 2026 class. On the mound, he brings elite stuff with a fastball ranging from 93-96 mph, showing explosive movement with a steep plane and more potential in the tank. His curveball sits between 78-82 mph, with over 2800 rpm, giving him a top-to-bottom hammer. At 6’2” and 205 lbs, Koeninger has a standout frame and elite athleticism for his size. Though he is still primarily a shortstop, his elite athleticism makes him a potential plus defender at the position. Koeninger had a big weekend at the plate, racking up double-digit hits, including two home runs, further showcasing his offensive ability. He’s firmly established himself as one of the elites in the 2026 class.
Cooper Harris
Position: RHP
School: Flower Mound High School (2026)
Commitment: Texas
Future Gamer
Cooper Harris, a Texas commit and Future Gamer, continues to trend upward as one of the top pitchers in the 2026 class. His fastball sits between 88-92 mph, with downhill action and notable hop. He also features a curveball at 75-77 mph with 2400+ rpm and an 11/5 drop, a slider at 77 mph with sharp wipeout potential (2600 rpm), and a changeup at 79 mph. Harris moves fluidly with a quick arm and has a full arsenal. His mound presence stands out, and he has that killer instinct when he’s out there.
Grayson McKelvey
Position: RHP
School: Aledo High School (2025)
Commitment: ACU
Grayson McKelvey, an ACU commit, got the start this weekend against a talented Pearland team. Although his command wasn’t at its best, McKelvey showed resilience, battling through tough moments and making key pitches when needed. Standing with a starter's frame, McKelvey's fastball sits between 88-90 mph, topping out at 92 mph, and his slider complements it well, giving him a solid FB/SL combination that keeps hitters off balance. As part of a talented pitching staff at Aledo, McKelvey looks to be a leader on the mound, taking the ball with intensity and confidence.
