2022 Utah All-State Games: Upperclass Blast Motion Board
November 17, 2022
The Utah All-State Games was held on October 30th at Snow Canyon High School. This event was an open event that consisted of prospects from the 2023-2027 classes. These players went through extended pro-style workout that included batting practice using Trackman and Blast Motion, participated in defensive evaluations, ran the 60 yard-dash using Swift Performance, and much more. Pitchers were able to throw in simulated bullpens and were able to get numbers and metrics off of our Trackman unit, such as pitch velocity, spin rate, horizontal & vertical movement & much more. There were some players who showed up and continued to build off of prior performances, but there were also some new names who jumped onto our radar with a strong showing at the event.
Continuing off our post-event coverage for this event, we take a look back at some of the leaders from Blast Motion recorded from the showcase. Please continue to check back over the next week, as we will release individual scouting reports on each player present at the event.

HAND SPEED (PEAK & AVERAGE)
Peak Hand Speed: The observed maximum speed as measured on the handle of the bat (measured six inches from the knob of the bat). Peak Hand Speed will occur prior to the moment of impact, very close to the commit time in the swing when the wrists unhinge.
BAT SPEED (AVERAGE)
Bat Speed: The observed speed of the sweet spot of the bat at impact. The sweet spot of the bat is measured six inches from the tip of the bat.
ROTATIONAL ACCELERATION (PEAK & AVERAGE)

|1||Ike Pickle||UT||Skyridge||2024||3B||26.0 g|
|2||Cole DeCastro||UT||Desert Hills||2023||SS||24.1 g|
|3||Trey Jacobsen||UT||Canyon View||2023||1B||22.2 g|
|^||Coleman Bobb||UT||Green Canyon||2023||RHP||22.2 g|
|4||Austin Ellis||UT||Mountain Ridge||2024||C||21.0 g|

Body Rotation: A swing that has the appropriate relative contributions of body and bat rotations is an efficient and Powerful swing that maintains proper sequencing. An efficient baseball swing is one in which the body creates the initial movements, which is then transferred to the arms and out to the bat, thereby maximizing Bat Speed through this proximal-to-distal kinematic sequencing movement pattern.
