PBR Utah Then to Now (Profile Views Rankings)

Jeff Scholzen
Utah Scouting Director

The most important feature or tool that a player can use to attract attention of college recruiters, is the PBR Player Profile.

I decided to share with players, family, coaches and fans alike, who made up the Top 100 most viewed profiles over the life span of PBR Utah. We brought PBR to the Beehive state Oct 1, 2020 and used the timeline dates of Jan 1, 2021 to Dec 31, 2022 to capture player profile views. The vast majority of the top players in the state do a few things that others don’t in garnering recruiting attention.

  1. Post religiously on Twitter and Instagram.

  2. They email a long list of college recruiters

  3. They attach their PBR Player Profile “link” in their Twitter account BIO

  4. They establish a process of communication with colleges

  5. They DM coaches on social media and use as many avenues to be seen and recognized.

One thing that stands out from the Top 100, is the higher you are ranked, the better possible chance of playing at a D1 or nationally ranked JUCO! One thing that also stands out, is that with all the tools at a players disposal, you can do everything humanly possible to market and promote yourself, but in the end, when a school or recruiter sees your videos on social media and the player profile, it comes down to talent and what the viewers likes are from a player evaluation standpoint and their positional needs. Cast a wide net and look out of state.

With the player profile, this is where your contact information is housed, along with your Trackman, Blast Motion, Swift Performance, Vizual Edge, Pitch Scores and ProPlayAI data and analytics are located. A player also has the ability to download (subscription required) the player video to use social media marketing and send to college recruiters. Scouting Reports are another valuable tool, that our state scouting directors write a summation of the players' event looks, as well as players who’ve earned the right to be scouted in person throughout the calendar year in live game action.

With all the above mentioned, there are a variety of ways to drive any and all viewers to the player profile, in garnering recruiting attention. Many have wondered, how does a player “view count” work exactly?

Prep Baseball Report uses Google Analytics software, to track every and all things PBR, that are website related. Any time a web user clicks on the player's profile link, it counts as a view.
