Three Utah Players Shine at Nevada Top Prospect Showcase

The PBR Nevada Top Prospect showcase took place on Saturday, August 29th at Las Vegas Ballpark. The event featured over 100 of the top prospects from Nevada, along with three prospects from Utah. 

Here is a look at reports and video on River Gatten, Jaden Harris, and Jordan Pace. 

River Gatten RHP / 1B / Copper Hills, UT / 2021

Body: 6-foot-2, 235 pounds. Thick, strong build. Proportionate throughout frame. Athletic for his size. 

Delivery: Tall, squared set up. Mid rubber. Rhythmic delivery with high peaking leg kick. Tall/tilt type. On line stride with a slight finish towards the 1B side. Stays mostly upright throughout. 
Arm Action: Slinger type. High ¾ arm slot. Repeats 
well.

FB: Max 81 mph. Sat 78-81 mph. Avg. Spin Rate - 2008 RPM. Downhill action. Lives in the zone.

SL: 70-73 mph. Avg. Spin Rate - 1816 RPM. Some late sweeping action. Comes out on same plane as FB.

Jaden Harris RHP / 3B / Roy/Ridgeline, UT / 2021

Profile: 6-foot-2, 220 pounds. Developed build with a strong lower half. One of the few Utahns to make their presence known at the Nevada Top Prospect with a quality performance on the mound from an above average arm that may have more in the tank with continued polish of his delivery. 

 Delivery:  Starts tall and narrow to the far left side of the rubber. Compact delivery with little wasted movement. Drop and drive type. Chest high peaking leg kick, hands raise up to head high followed by an on line stride. Throws over a high front side creating some downhill action on his pitches. Finishes balanced after extension.

Arm Action: RH. Long, loose arm action. High 3/4 arm slot. Gets extended well. Repeated slot on both his FB and CB. 

FB: Max 90 mph. Sat 88-90 mph. Avg. Spin Rate - 1944 RPM. Some downhill action. Jumps out his hand. 

SL: 75-78 mph. Avg. Spin Rate - 2367 RPM. Tight, late sweeping action. Comes out on same plane as FB. Flashes some back up action. Strikeout pitch. Tends to slow arm down.

Jordan Pace RHP / 3B / Pleasant Grove , UT / 2021

Body: 5-foot-11, 195 pounds. Thick, strong build. Broad shoulders with present strength in his lower half. 
Defense: IF. Competent infielding actions. Tends to sit back on the ball. Back side stays elevated in turn causing him to field the ball deep. Has feel for plays to the forehand and backhand side. Projects to stay as a corner IF.
Arm: RH. 79 mph. Quick, loose arm. ¾ arm slot. Accurate with some carry. 
Hit: RHH. Wide, tall set up. Toe tap load with a slight coil in his upper half. Level bat path through a rotational type swing. Uses lower half well. Stayed mostly in the middle of the yard. Drove balls to both gaps with authority and has present power to the pull side. 
Power: 98 mph Exit Velocity via TrackMan
Run: 7.10 Laser Timed 60

Delivery: Spread, athletic set up. Works from far right side of the rubber. Efficient delivery. Tall/tilt type. Coils at the peak of his chest high leg kick. Strides and lands slightly closed. Throws over a high front side. Finishing with a forward fall after release. 
Arm Action: RH. Long, quick arm. High ¾ arm slot. 

FB: Max 86 mph. Sat 83-86 mph. Avg. Spin Rate - 1927 RPM. Some downhill action. Lives in the zone. Seemingly more velocity in the tank.

CH: 74-75 mph. Avg. Spin Rate - 1621 RPM. Similar downhill action to his FB. Some arm side fade as well. 

SL: 72-74 mph. Avg. Spin Rate - 1997 RPM. Flashes some sweeping action. Mostly 11/5 action.
