2023 Preseason ID - National Exit Velo Leader: 105.3

This kid is a really big dude and not only is he a big man in a 16 yr old body, but looks the part of a NFL offensive lineman. Playing for one of the better HS coaches in the state in Dave Feasler, Justin is a Dallas, TX move into the state of Utah. Coach Feasler who has data at his HS and the PCH Baseball Academy, told me this kid would put up big numbers on trackman and blast motion, and did he ever, as he led the 71 player event, in exit velocity at 105+ as well as max distance at 397’. Michaelis also put up big swing metrics with blast, as he featured 26.4 hand speed and a ridiculous 87.4 max bat speed. As a freshman, Michaelis put up a stat line of a .367 BA with 2 HR, 11 2B and 30 RBI as a freshman! I really look forward to seeing this young man play this coming spring, as he made my short list for consideration for the PBR Future Games in late July at LakePoint!

4/12/23

Has really blossomed over the last 2.5 years since his first event. Has now filled out his small frame and added strength and some quickness to now earn and perform to receive a scholarship to Centralia College. One of the leaders of an upstart Canyon View HS squad that is currently 12-4 and ranked with the PBR Utah Power 25 in Weeks 2-5.

12/22/20

A little guy that just needs to physically grow and mature. Has some work to do all around and looks to be a late bloomer and develop over time. Defensively he takes a straight on approach to the baseball at SS and 2B looks to be his home. The hands are properly set, yet looks a little unsure at times and needs to trust his instincts. The arm is a low ¾ slot and gets okay carry with his throws. SS is a little bit of a stretch in a showcase setting and would have been nice to see his work across the bag at 2B. Not a runner, nor his game, but his bat has a linear path thru a short stroke after getting solid separation to his load and syncs up with his lower ½. Looks to be in the growing stages and with added work and focus to each part of his game, I look forward to seeing where he is in 6 months time.

Scout Day

Keaton Stinson OF / 2B / Cottonwood , UT / 2024

2022 PBR West Coast Games alum

Week 5 (April 3-9) Stat Line:

G 2 AB 5 R 3 H 4 HR 2 RBI 7 2B 2

8/02/22

Stinson shows a power/speed combo as he has been on the 6.8-6.9/60 range, the 60 yrd dash, and clocked in at a 6.82 in Atlanta and put up a .400+ BA with 7 HR’s during the ‘22 spring season. Showing an EV of 99.8 this last year, Stinson was a little off that, but barrelled balls to all fields during BP and an 84 OF velo for good measure. With a lean athletic build that portends to added weight and strength at maturity, it’s easy to see 100+ EV’s in his future and a high 80’s arm from the OF over the next two HS seasons. Stinson plays at a very good HS program, coached by former MLB hitter, Chris Shelton, so colleges know he will be schooled in the game the right way. I look for even bigger things from this young man moving forward and one colleges should definitely take notice of quickly!

3/06/22

Stinson, a standout at a couple of previous PBR Utah events, has only continued to solidify his attention with us, as he has posted solid data with an EV high of 99.8 with solid hand and bat speed. A quick bat with a 45 degree load, and starts with his bat turned into his load, while rocking back for leverage and gets his foot down soft at foot strike. Stinson, an everyday player as a freshman on a talented, but young Cottonwood roster, will look to build upon his success as a sophomore for Coach Chris Shelton (former big league 1B) and the Colts. Stinson has also posted 6.9-7.2/60 times and should only increase that as he continues to gain physical strength and maturity.

Drake Piersall 3B / OF / Riverton, UT / 2024

2022 PBR West Coast Games alum

Week 5 (April 3-9) Stat Line:

G 4 AB 14 R 3 H 6 HR 1 RBI 4 2B 1

8/20/22

Drake has been through a lot this past season w/Tommy John surgery, after injuring his elbow last November and worked his tail off to come back at the end of the HS season, to take a few AB’s and was able to hit all summer. He has now progressed to easy tosses across the diamond from 3B. Took a good BP at the West Coast Games and proceeded to get a couple of hard knocks in the game play portion of the event. Features an unorthodox style to hit, as he carried his hands at his right oblique w/a bat waggle. Get his hands loaded at a 45-degree angle in sync w/a big leg kick. You wouldn’t think he could time up velocity with this approach, but he does! Strong w/a hand speed max of 25 mph and 83 mph bat speed, that generates EV’s of 100 mph! The defense is most likely suited for 1B, but playing 3B will keep him athletic and enhance his profile, yet the bat plays at both corners. Colleges need to take a closer look at Drake and the bat has impact potential.

11/21/21

A strongly built corner INF w/a 100 mph top EV, Piersall has a unique way of hitting, as he carries his hands low and then brings them up and back into the load phase, incorporating a high knee kick and then uncoiling the spring to power through the baseball with a fast bat, and elevating the ball into a high one hand finish. The hand and bat speed have jumped since we last saw him in June at the Top Prospect Games, to 25.1 and 80.7 at the All-State Games. Drake has worked really hard and put himself in the conversation now for the short list for next year's PBR Future Games!

6/19/21

Drake is a tall lean streamlined build with height and weight above his years. Plenty to project on here. With the bat, his metrics were really good for a 15 year old kid. He put up some 94 mph exit velos which is better than any ‘24 in our events. There are some tweaks he can make to fine tune his mechanics. He shows hand and bat speed above his years and takes a direct path and shows strong hands and a firm strong top hand. The load and timing can sync up better with his lower 1/2 and increase his metrics. But he does exhibit a strong hitting profile for a young kid. Defensively at 1B, he shows soft hands and fields out front and is confident to his backhand. The arm will continue to improve as he matures, yet this kids body projects to mature and gain added weight and strength. Makings here to be developed.

Week 5 Career Milestone

Career Milestone of 100 base hit vs Clovis HS (CA) and notch career hit #101 in his next AB to complete a 2-4 day. The 100 hits were in a 3 year span as he didn’t play in 2020 due to CoVid and played on the JV squad. Gatti has only struck out 6 times in 259 career PA’s to date!

Jak Sinclair OF / RHP / Corner Canyon , UT / 2023

Committed: Cuesta College (CA)

Week 5 (April 3-9) Stat Line:

G 4 AB 15 R 4 H 8 HR 1 RBI 4 2B 1 3B 1 BB 2

4/12/23

Has matured into a very solid player and one with power potential, to carry into the San Luis Obispo school in CA. Sinclair has filled out and showed a solid swing pattern with a fluid finish to drive balls for extra base power. Now a 7.03/60 runner with a mid 80's FB if he chose to move to the mound, but the bat has really blossomed and with EV's in the 95-97 range, with added strength and filling out his 18 yr old frame over the next 2-3 year, 100+ is in his future and the ball with carry and drive further.

7/12/22

Positional Profile: OF/RHP

Hits: RHH.
Power: 94 max exit velocity, averaged 90.2 MPH. 349' max distance.
Arm: RH. OF-84 mph.
Defense:
Run: 7.03 runner in the 60.
Vizual Edge: 80.47 Edge Score
