Outlook:
George C. Marshall had a strong 2014 season that saw them go deep in the 5A Northern Region Tournament before falling in the semi-finals to Stone Bridge. The Statesmen look to be strong again in 2015 as they bring back most of the core of their team and will field a team filled with experienced seniors. The line-up will be led by 2014 5A State Player of the Year Mitch Blackstone (C, 2015) as well as fellow college-bound seniors Matt Borowski (3B, 2015) and Shane Russell (1B, 2015). The pitching staff will be led by seniors Will Brooke (RHP, 2015), Mark Leduc (RHP, 2015), and Matt Rosenberg (RHP/OF, 2015) and could also see contributions from some talented youngsters. The Statesmen have a deep and talented line-up as well as a stable of arms that will make them very dangerous this year. Marshall is the clear pre-season favorite to win the Capitol Conference and is among the favorites in the 5A Northern Region and this spring the Statesmen will have a team that has the talent and experience to potentially make a run to the State Tournament.
