For the next two weeks we will roll out our Preseason Power 25. Three staff members voted on their version of the thirty best teams in the Preseason Power 25, with a possibility of 90 total vote points for each team. We will release three teams per day for the first week and then move to two teams per day once we reach the Top 10 next week. Voting for preseason teams centers more around the depth of talent on that team, as well as where it stacks up within their region/area, as opposed to strictly predicting schedule outcomes.
Generally, larger schools and classifications have a greater depth of player talent on roster. However, once the season begins and records begin to take shape, the Power 25 will be adjusted as needed. In addition to that, we will debut our Private School Top 10 around April 1st and Small School Top 10 around mid-April.
#13: Glen Allen Jaguars
The Jaguars were one win away from getting Coach Savino back to yet another state title game. While it was a streaky type of season, Glen Allen managed to win six straight before their season ended at the hands of the eventual state champs, McLean. They lost their ace arm earlier in the season, but managed to win some big games with probably more of a staff type of approach. One of the arms that logged some big innings was then sophomore Steele Smith. Smith got a wealth of experience last season and should be primed for a consistent starting role this season. While they did lose two arms that threw some big innings for them last season, they do return a potentially fully healthy Daniel Nienaber (UVA) whose stuff alone could be a game changer down the stretch for Glen Allen. More importantly than the arms is the immense amount of offensive talent they bring back. All-State catcher Levi Jones is back, as well as breakout outfielder Ben Pulliam (Longwood). Joining Jones and Pulliam are seniors Jackson Toole (CNU) and Andrew Davis (Richard Bland CC). Caleb Whitehead can really defend at first base and Colin Whidbee can flat go get it in centerfield, those two would be big additions if they can provide some offense on a consistent basis. What is the X-Factor to potentially get Glen Allen to finish the job in 2025? A healthy season from Nienaber and an Alex Awad breakout year. Awad has electric stuff and if he can figure out being more efficient in the zone he would be a very intriguing follow this spring as an uncommitted arm.

Final Thoughts:
"There is enough talent on this roster that gives them a chance to grab another state tournament bid. Depth and health on the pitching staff will be key as they get deeper in the season. Daniel Nienaber and Steele Smith are two arms that could carry the load on the mound, but they will need more to make a deep run. Ben Pulliam and Jackson Toole are impact bats that look to lead the charge offensively. They will need to find some depth to protect their bats as the spring goes on."
