For the next two weeks we will roll out our Preseason Power 25. Three staff members voted on their version of the thirty best teams in the Preseason Power 25, with a possibility of 90 total vote points for each team. We will release three teams per day for the first week and then move to two teams per day once we reach the Top 10 next week. Voting for preseason teams centers more around the depth of talent on that team, as well as where it stacks up within their region/area, as opposed to strictly predicting schedule outcomes.
Generally, larger schools and classifications have a greater depth of player talent on roster. However, once the season begins and records begin to take shape, the Power 25 will be adjusted as needed. In addition to that, we will debut our Private School Top 10 around April 1st and Small School Top 10 around mid-April.
#15: Great Bridge Wildcats
Great Bridge had an outstanding spring in 2024, one of the best in recent memory. The Wildcats took the one seed in Region 5A, but lost the semifinal game versus a hot Ocean Lakes team. Dawson Newman (Coastal Carolina) had an amazing season for Great Bridge and his contributions on both sides will be missed, but certainly more so on the mound. Picking up his pieces will more than likely be Brody Comparto and Cole Cinnamond, both of whom piggy backed games with Newman and company last season. When it comes to the lineup, the Wildcats will need to replace leadoff speedster Calvin Mabry and Newman. Outside of those two they bring back a fair portion of their lineup, most notably, 1st Team All-State infielder Casey Cuddyer (UNC). Joining Cuddyer should be Andrew Griffin, Adam Bartley, Comparto, and Trey Burton. They have some other names to note like Jayden Bocachica, Caden Cinnamond, and Tristan Cheek (Bryant & Stratton), but we will have to see if and how they fit into this lineup/roster. They are fairly athletic and versatile, but mound depth will probably once again be one of the main question marks for this Wildcats team.

Cuddyer comes up HUGE for the Wildcats as he ties this one up in the bottom of the 6th with a 3run 💣 over the left field fence. @PrepBaseballVA #BeSeen pic.twitter.com/GcCweJvxlG
Final Thoughts:
"The production on both sides that Dawson Newman brought will be a significant loss, but Cole Cinnamond is a canidate to at least fill in those shoes on the mound. Brody Comparto and Casey Cuddyer bring athleticism up the middle, as well as adding some depth on the mound. They will more than likely need to have Cole Cinnamond or Comparto step up in that frontline arm role to be able take them where they want to be in the postseason."
