For the next two weeks we will roll out our Preseason Power 25. We will release three teams per day for the first week and then move to two teams per day once we reach the Top 10 next week. Voting for preseason teams centers more around the depth of talent on that team, as well as where it stacks up within their region/area, as opposed to strictly predicting schedule outcomes. Our staff weighs ten different categories (i.e. offensive depth, impact players, frontline arm, pitching staff depth, sustained program success, etc).
Generally, larger schools and classifications have a greater depth of player talent on roster. However, once the season begins and records begin to take shape, the Power 25 will be adjusted as needed. In addition to that, we will debut our Private School Top 10 around the beginning of April and the Small School Top 10 around mid-April. This will allow teams to settle in and schedule to begin to shake out. Our first overall Power 25 update, due to the VHSL season being pushed back a week, will come Monday, March 31st.
#21: Greenbrier Christian Gators
Season Preview:
The Gators had a spectacular 2024 season that included a VISAA II state title and looks to do the same in 2025. They graduated some key pieces from that championship run, but also returned some as well. Hunter Langston (Hampden-Sydney), Jackson Okonkwo (Old Dominion), and Tucker Rupe (Lynchburg) are seniors that should make an impact on the mound, as well as offensively. Thomas Conrad (VMI) will be a key contributor offensively and patrolling the outfield. Ryan Watson came up in some big spots as a freshman in 2024 and looks to build upon that in 2025. There is a good mixture of experience and some young players that have bright futures, but there are some potential question marks, especially up the middle of the field, that need to be answered. Will those new faces be ready to establish a role that could help push the Gators back to another state title run in 2025?

Final Thoughts:
"GCA has a lot to replace, especially up the middle of the field, which is where my personal area of concern lies. However, it is hard to argue with the continued success they have year after year. What they lack up the middle, they have some strengths on the corners and some upperclass arms on the mound. Okonkwo, Langston, Conrad, Bonney, and Rupe are a few names that come to mind as players that offer multiple areas of contribution to point to some predicted success for this team. If they can figure out the middle of the field (catcher, MIF, centerfield), I could see this Gators club being a serious contender for yet another VISAA DII title."
