For the next two weeks we will roll out our Preseason Power 25. We will release three teams per day for the first week and then move to two teams per day once we reach the Top 10 next week. Voting for preseason teams centers more around the depth of talent on that team, as well as where it stacks up within their region/area, as opposed to strictly predicting schedule outcomes. Our staff weighs ten different categories (i.e. offensive depth, impact players, frontline arm, pitching staff depth, sustained program success, etc).
Generally, larger schools and classifications have a greater depth of player talent on roster. However, once the season begins and records begin to take shape, the Power 25 will be adjusted as needed. In addition to that, we will debut our Private School Top 10 around the beginning of April and the Small School Top 10 around mid-April. This will allow teams to settle in and schedule to begin to shake out. Our first overall Power 25 update, due to the VHSL season being pushed back a week, will come Monday, March 31st.
#3: Atlee Raiders
Season Preview:
The defending Class 4 State Champions are back and the only thing that has changed is the calendar year. The Raiders lost a few graduating seniors, but what they bring back is a year older, a year more experienced, and all-around better. The lineup is athletic, versatile, and again, experienced. Barrett Bucholz (UVA) took over at the top of the lineup as the year progressed. For starters, he should be joined in some capacity by Cooper Molloy (George Mason), Will Haynie, and Owen Goble to name a few. Haynie, one of the top uncommitted infielders in the state, and Molloy make up one of the best infield duos in the state. Potential big seasons for some supporting cast members like Vaughan Mayo and Tyler Rutman. Rutman has made some big strides and could be a really solid addition at the plate. Arguably the most pivotal returner in 2025 is senior catcher, Chase Chamberlain (Randolph-Macon). Chamberlain is the backbone for this team and especially this star studded pitching staff. Senior Noah Yoder (Duke) is a frontrunner in the state for MLB Draft follows. The power right hander is joined by Evan Salapka (Richmond), Chase Blumberg (VMI), and Chase Mottley. They have positional depth, experience, athleticism, strong up the middle, and a couple of real difference makers. Needless to say, they are at the forefront of the conversation when it comes to favorites to win the Class 4 title.
It was a big matchup on Saturday at the #CommonwealthClassic .

Final Thoughts:
"Outside of probably St. John's, they have the best rotation in terms of the top three to four arms on the staff. If Yoder is in the zone, he is the most dominant high school arm in the state, and has the stuff to be one of the most dominant arms I have seen in high school. Atlee has a senior catcher that is a four year starter and a leader, something that is so valuable at this level. They have athleticism, speed, an offense that puts pressure on the opposing team, and quality depth on the mound. Most importantly, they have been there and know what it takes, while also maintaining essentially all of those pieces. For me, there is a sizable gap between everyone else in Class 4 and the Raiders."
