Catcher, Eli Quiceno, Commits to Gannon



Stone Bridge catcher and 2014 Prospect Games participant Eli Quiceno has committed to attend Gannon University in the fall of 2016. Quiceno is the fourth member of the Bulldogs’ talented Class of 2016 to commit to play baseball in college. Quiceno was a big part of Stone Bridge’s 2015 5A State Championship team and the Bulldogs will again be a talented team this spring under new head coach Andrew Baird.

Quiceno, is a 5-foot-11,175 pound, athletic catcher that hit from a balanced stance with high hands. He had a smooth load back with a slight leg kick and explosive bat speed that generated an exit velocity of 89 mph off of the tee in November 2014. Quiceno showed a good line drive approach with the ability to utilize the middle of the field with power. Defensively, Quiceno is an athletic catcher that has polished skills. He throws from a high three-quarter arm slot and posted a positional velocity of 78 mph last November. He utilizes quick feet and a quick transfer out of the crouch. He has plus feel for in-game pitch calling, and was a leader on the field. Posted pop times of 1.96 to 2.03.

When Quiceno arrives at Gannon, he should immediately be able to help the Golden Knights as good defensive option behind the plate or right handed bat off of the bench. Over the course of his career, Quiceno has the potential to develop into an good defender behind the plate who will hit for doubles power with a few home runs.
