C.D. Hylton High School 1B Christian Colangelo has committed to attend University of Mary Washington to play baseball in the fall of 2016. He is one of the many players that attended the Preseason All-State to commit. Colangelo will be a part of an outstanding C.D. Hylton squad which will also feature JMU commit, Fox Semones (RHP/SS, 2016),  Ryan Billy (RHP, 2016) and Trey Shepard (RHP, 2016). Colangelo will be a middle of the order bat in the Bulldog lineup that be anchored by Richard Ortiz (C, 2017) and Benjamin Marotske (OF, 2016).

At the Preseason All-State, Colangelo hit from an athletic stance that was slightly crouched.  Swing had fluid rhythm.  Short load back with slight arm bar. Short stride that maintained its line.  Lower half was aggressive to the ball.  Balance was maintained throughout swing. Quick bat with a swing path that was level and had good extension. Bat exit velocity was 83 mph. Stroke that should produce line drives with gap-to-gap power.  In the field, threw from a high ¾ arm slot.  Throws were accurate.  Had a Positional Velocity of 74 mph.  Hands were soft with fluid footwork.  Footwork worked through the ball. Exchanges were clean and quick.  Smooth fielding

Colangelo has a high upside.  He is a long athlete that will grow into his tall frame.  With added strength, he will have the ability to be a middle of the order bat at the next level that will hit for a high average and occasional power.

Congrats Christian!
