In December, Prep Baseball Report Virginia/DC hosted the End of Year Showcase at Virginia Sports Complex in Ruther Glen, Virginia. Players from all over the Commonwealth were on display as well as a few of our neighbors from Maryland and Delaware. In the coming weeks we will go into detail about what we saw that day, earlier this week, we began with a breakdown of the pitchers. Today we will take a closer look at the outfielders and corner infielders.

Chase Crosby 1B DeMatha (MD) 2019
Crosby is 6-0 with a strong lower half to his frame, hits from the right side from an open athletic stance. Leg kick stride, loads back with a wrap, decent hips and solid balance throughout swing. Short to ball with extension through it, gap to gap approach and slightly uphill path, solid line drive swing with gap potential, exit velocity was 81. In the infield, average footwork, gets body in front of ball effectively. Short arm action from a three-quarters arm slot, position velocity of 64.

Scott Crosson LHP/OF Hickory 2020
Hits from the left side, short lunging stride. Loads back and down, longer swing path that works uphill. Decent hips and a pull approach, exit velocity off of the tee was 82. As an outfielder, took good routes and showed good footwork. Soft hands, played through the ball well with a clean exchange. Three-quarters arm action with a position velocity of 80. Home to first was 4.33.

Max Harper 1B Spotsylvania 2018
Harper is 6-1 with an athletic frame, hitting from the right side from a balanced athletic stance. Short leg kick stride and slight load back, decent hips and average balance throughout swing. Longer path with extension through the ball, line drive swing with gap power, good approach working the middle of the field, exit velocity of 86. In the infield, average footwork and average hands, gets body behind ball. Low three-quarters arm action, position velocity was 79.

Garrett Johnson LHP/1B Norfolk Christian 2020
Hits from the left side from an athletic stance. Toe tap stride, load back with wrap. Very good hips and balance throughout swing. Longer path with a quick bat and extension. Good approach working the middle of the field, exit velocity was 81. At first base, average footwork and soft hands, throws from a three-quarters slot with a position velocity of 73.

Devin Patillo OF Indian River 2017
Patillo is 6-1 with a lanky upper half and athletic lower half. He hits from the right side from an open athletic stance, short leg kick stride on line with a smoot load back. Good rhythm, decent hips and balance throughout swing. Short to the ball, level swing path, up the middle to pull approach with a line drive swing, exit velocity of 79. In the outfield, decent footwork with soft hands. Clean release, three-quarters arm slot with a position velocity of 76.

Josh Stevens OF Greenbrier Christian 2019
Stevens is 5-11 with a lankier frame, hits from the left side from a balanced stance. Strides on line with a short load back, good hips and balance throughout his swing. Short to the ball with extension through it, line drive swing gap type hitter now with pull power potential, exit velocity of 80. In the outfield, clean footwork, average hands, and a clean exchange, throws from a high three-quarters arm slot, position velocity of 74.

Michael Williams II OF DeMatha (MD) 2018
Williams is 5-8 with an athletic frame, hits from the right side from an athletic stance. Short leg kick stride, gaining ground with minimal load, good hips and decent balance throughout swing. Level swing path, short to the ball with a gap-to-gap approach, line drive swing, exit velocity of 81. In the outfield, quick feet and good footwork, plays through ball with soft hands and a decent release. High three-quarters arm slot with a position velocity of 76. Home to first time was 4.34.
