This weekend we had the opportunity to scout the Mid-Atlantic Orioles and Old Dominion Hitters as they squared off at William & Mary. Both teams consisted of 2019 athletes from Richmond and Virginia Beach area. We were on site for most of the day on Saturday, here are some quick hits on some players that stuck out.

2019 RHP Nic Psimas (Nansemond Suffolk Academy) has an imposing 6-foot-6, 220-pound frame. Was 82-86 mph on the mound touching 87 with one 88 on a ball put in play. up to 74 on a 10/4 breaking ball. More in the tank.

2019 C Hyatt Hurst (Tallwood) was one of my favorite players on the day. Athletic projectable frame with room to add on at 5-foot-11, 150-pounds. Left-handed hitter with a smooth and simple swing with quick hands.Spread ball all over field on day. Works hard behind the plate with pop in between innings as low as 1.98. Ran a 7.26 60-yard dash.

2019 RHP Brandon Hill (Deep Run) sat 80-83 on the mound, getting at high at 85 on the day while touching 84 twice. Projectable frame pitching with regular effort.

2019 SS Zach Morris (Nansemond Suffolk) has a projectable 5-foot-10, 160 pound frame. Has clean actions from the shortstop position with a quick and confident first step. Showed ability to get to plenty of balls to both sides. Smooth at the plate that barrelled ball well throughout the day.

2019 RHP Camdton Furman of Midlothian HS was 80-81 on the day touching 82. Lanky projectable frame with more in the tank. Breaking Ball was up to 71 mph.

2019 LHP Trent Goodman (Home School) showed nice command on the mound of three pitches. Throws from an over the top slot and was up to 82 on the day. Change had fade with fastball arm speed at 72. 12/6 breaking ball.

2019 IF Mason Mitchell (Covenant) barrelled the ball all day for the Orioles with five hits in the game. Nice rhythm and smooth swing with a projectable frame.

2019 C/3B/RHP JT Inskeep (Greenbrier Christian) was another that did a bit of everything on the day, first starting out on the mound pitching up to 82 with a shorter arm action and light effort. Another that presents a big target behind the plate with quick feet and some life on throws from behind. Pops as low as 2.04. Power potential at the plate and room for growth.

2019 LHP/OF Trey Morgan (Hampton) touched 81 on the mound, sat 77-79 with command of three pitches from a low three quarter slot. Excellent body control with one of the better pickoff moves from a lefty. Depending on the program, has two way potential.

2019 3B/RHP Antonio Velasquez (Western Branch) showed pull side pop at the plate and athleticism from third base. On the mound was up to 83 mph.

2019 RHP Brendan Kastner (Norfolk Academy) was up to 83 mph on the mound with slight sink and run to his fastball. Has a plus slider with sharp action up to 78 mph.

2019 IF Mark Buisson (Mills Godwin) is an interesting left handed hitting infielder. Nice rhythm at the plate with some bat speed and a barrel that stays in the zone. Had some nice at bats on the day, making loud contact.

2019 IF Brooks Mazey has sound actions from the short stop position. Has a short level swing path at the plate with quick hands from a slightly open set up. Was a 4.49 home to first.

Stay tuned tomorrow and Wednesday as we update our Scout Blog with Full Reports on these players and others on each team from the Mid-Atlantic Orioles and Old Dominion Hitters.
