On Saturday, October 31, Prep Baseball Report Virginia/DC hosted its 2nd Annual Fall Prospect Games at James Madison University. Over 60 players participated in the one day event that featured a pro workout in the morning and games in the afternoon and evening. Over the next few days, we will break down in great detail the many talented pitchers that were on the field for the event.  Here is Part 3 of the pitchers that participated in the event.

+Justin Pearson, LHP, Mountain View, 2017
Pearson has a lanky, athletic frame that is projectable. He throws from a high three-quarters arm slot with a smooth drop and drive delivery. He has a short, loose arm action and a quick arm that generates velocity with normal effort. His shoulders are closed and slightly uphill and he lands a bit closed, creating a crossfire effect and adding deception. Pearson’s fastball had heavy run and sat 78-80. His curveball had late, sharp, 1/7 break to and good armspeed, running 69-71. His changeup was thrown with good armspeed and was 73. Pearson showed good command of all three pitches and demonstrated an advanced feel for pitching.

+Josh Pittman, RHP/MIF, Highland, 2017
Pittman has an athletic frame and throws from a high three-quarters arm slot with a drop and drive delivery. He has a short arm action and a quick arm that generates velocity with normal effort. His shoulders are uphill and closed as he strides out to a square landing before falling off as he finishes. Pittman’s fastball had some sinking action to it and sat 80-82. He threw a sharp 11/5 curveball that ran 68-71. His changeup had fading action and was 76.

+James Price, RHP, Patriot, 2017
Price has an athletic frame and throws from a high three-quarters arm slot with a smooth drop and drive delivery. He has a long, loose arm action and a quick arm that generates velocity with normal effort. His shoulders are uphill and closed as he strides out on line to a square landing and an athletic finish. Price’s fastball sat 78-80 and touched 81 with late, heavy run and good downward plane. His curveball had late 11/5 break and decent armspeed, running 67-69. Price commanded both pitches well during his outing. He did not throw his changeup in the game, but it is his best secondary offering, with good armspeed and heavy fading action.

+Nick Stewart, RHP, Rock Ridge, 2017
Stewart is an athletic frame that is very projectable. He throws from a high three-quarters arm slot with a smooth tall and fall delivery. He has shortened his arm action a bit over the last 9 months, but it works well and is loose and lightning quick and generates easy velocity. His shoulders are uphill and closed as he strides out to a square landing before falling off a bit as he finishes. Stewart’s fastball had late, hard run and good downward plane, running 81-85. His curveball had late 11/5 break and was thrown with good armspeed, running 73-74. His changeup was also thrown with good armspeed and had fading action, running 70-72. He showed good command of all three pitches.

+Carter Strain, RHP/OF, Lake Braddock, 2017
Strain has a lanky frame that is projectable and throws from a low three-quarters arm slot with a smooth drop and drive delivery. He has a short, loose arm action that is quick and generates velocity with normal effort. His shoulders are closed and slightly uphill as he strides out to a closed landing, creating a crossfire delivery. Strain’s fastball had some run and heavy sink, sitting 76-77. He threw a good, sharp 10/4 slider with good armspeed that ran 65-67. His changeup had sink and was 73.

+Cameron Taylor, RHP, Heritage, 2017
Taylor has a drop and drive delivery and throws from a high three-quarters arm slot. He has a long, loose action and a quick arm that generates velocity with some effort. His shoulders are uphill and slightly closed as he strides out to a closed landing, creating a crossfire delivery. His delivery is very deceptive and he hides the ball well. His fastball had late sink and good plane when thrown at the bottom of the zone, running 81-83. He threw a good curveball that had sharp 11/5 break and good armspeed, running 69-71. His changeup was very good, thrown with full armspeed and heavy fading action while running 75.

+Toma Shigaki-Than, RHP, Oakton, 2017
Shigaki-Than has a projectable, athletic frame and throws from a high three-quarters arm slot with a smooth delivery. His arm action is long and loose and his lightning quick arm generates easy velocity. His shoulders are uphill and closed and strides out on line to a square landing before falling off as he finishes. Shigaki-Than’s fastball had late run to it and sat 84-85, touching 86. His curveball was outstanding, with late, sharp 12/6 break and good armspeed, running 75-78. His changeup had fastball armspeed and fading action and ran 77. He showed good command of all three pitches.

+Will Sokol, RHP/1B, Loudoun County, 2017
Sokol has an athletic frame and throws from a sidearm slot with a smooth drop and drive delivery. He has a long, loose arm action that generates velocity with easy effort. His shoulders are down and slightly closed as he strides out to a square landing and falls off a bit as he finishes. Sokol’s fastball had heavy run to it and sat 71-73 and was commanded well. His slider had big sweeping action and decent armspeed, running 65-66. His changeup had heavy run and decent armspeed and ran 67.

+Hunter Williams, LHP, Windsor, 2017
Williams is an athletic lefty with a projectable frame who throws from a high three-quarters arm slot with a smooth drop and drive delivery. He has a short arm action and throws with normal effort. His shoulders are level and closed as he strides out on line to a square landing. Williams fastball had slight run and very good downward plane and sat 81-83. His curveball had sharp 1/7 break and decent armspeed, running 62-66. His changeup had good armspeed and ran 69.

+Graeme Wright, RHP/1B, Paul VI, 2017
Wright has an athletic frame and throws from a high three-quarters arm slot with a drop and drive delivery. He has a long, loose arm action and a quick arm that generates velocity with some effort. His shoulders are slightly uphill as he strides out to a square landing and finishes in an athletic position. Wright’s fastball had late run and a bit of sink to it, sitting 76-78 and touching 79. His breaking ball had late 11/5 action and decent armspeed. His changeup also had decent armspeed and fade to it.
