Junior Future Games Team Mid-Atlantic Day 1 Highlights

On Thursday, Team Mid-Atlantic's Junior Future Games teams played their pool play games, with each team playing two games on the day. Both 14U teams won their pool and advanced to Friday's Gold bracket, staying in the mix to compete for Saturday's Championship.

 

Here is a brief recap with highlights from the games:

 

14U Green

Mid-Atlantic 2, PBR Arkansas 2
The game was scoreless through the first two innings. Ryan Bland (Douglas Freeman, VA) started for Team Mid-Atlantic and allowed just one in hit his two innings, striking out three. Bland also got the scoring going in the top of the third, with a two-run single to left-center to give Mid-Atlantic a 2-0 lead early. Bland ended up going 2-2 in the game.

 

 

 

2024 RHP Colin Bunch (King George, VA) struck out the side in 4th, leaving the bases loaded and preserving the 2-0 lead.

 

 

Arkansas rallied to tie the game in the bottom of the fifth, and more damage was averted when Ethan Flaugher (North East, MD) caught a runner stealing for the second out and Danny Fleming (Langley, VA) got a pop up on the infield to end the inning. Fleming ended up going 1 2/3 innings scoreless with a strikeout and Flaugher caught another runner stealing in the seventh inning.

 

Mid-Atlantic 4, Tennessee 0
In Game 2, Green's pitchers were in control, allowing just one hit to Tennessee. Eli Ranson (Douglas Freeman) threw the first two innings, allowing just a pair of walks.

 

Bransen Hensley (Broadway, VA) worked a perfect 3rd and 4th innings. 

 

Lee Sowers (Douglas Freeman, VA) also worked a scoreless inning

 

Aden Judge (Nansemond River) threw the last two innings of the game

 

Offensively, Ethan Flaugher (North East, MD) was 2-2 in the game, Ayden Schnarrs (Cosby, VA) had a double and a walk, and Tanner Schaedel (Cape Henry, VA) had a walk and an RBI triple.

 

14U Blue

Mid-Atlantic 7, Arizona 4
Team Mid-Atlantic got things going quickly in the first inning when Ryan Maxey (Georgetown Prep, MD) tripled to right center, driving in a run. He would later score on wild pitch to give Mid-Atlantic an early 2-0 lead after the top of the first. Maxey reached on a walk and stole two bases in his second at-bat before scoring.

In the second, Mid-Atlantic added another run when Ashton Hylton (Franklin County, VA) doubled to right center. Hylton added another RBI single in his second at-bat.

Zach Davis (Menchville, VA) was perfect across the first two innings on the mound.

 

Hunter Santilli (Colonial Heights, VA) worked a scoreless 3rd and 4th, striking out 2.

 

 

Mid-Atlantic 9, Alabama 4
In Game 2, Carson Seely threw two scoreless innings to start the game.

 

 

Blue's bats came alive in the middle innings, Lucas Smith (Dinwiddie, VA) had two hits in the game, including a triple.

 

 

Landon Griffin (Thomas Dale, VA) was 2-2 with a pair of singles and 3 RBIs.

 

Peyton Miller (Gilman, MD) was also 2-3 with a double and 2 RBIs in the nightcap.

 

 

13U

Mid-Atlantic 13, Alabama 8
Ren Devereaux (Avalon, MD) got things started on the mound for Team Mid-Atlantic.

 

 

Max Lawson (Briar Woods, VA) was effective on the mound with a two pitch mix.

 

Taegan Logan (Trinity Episcopal, VA) had this base hit to right.

 

Braeden Loving was on the barrel all day and had a pair of doubles.

 

Aidan West (Long Reach, MD) got a big rally rolling with a 3B

 

 

 

 

Tennessee 8, Mid-Atlantic 3
Dallas Brooks (Rising Sun, MD) started the game on the bump in what was a pitcher's duel early.

 

 

Parker Friend also was strong on the mound in the game and also looked good at the plate.

 

 

 

 

 

Ren Devereaux (Avalon, MD) had an RBI double
