Lipp and Gjormand Lead Madison Over Marshall

Madison defeated Marshall 4-1 on a cold Tuesday night.  Madison was led by Senior Josh Gjormand (Lynchburg), who pitched a complete game, allowing one run over seven innings, with eight strikeouts, one walk and surrendering one run on six hits. 

Junior RHP Robert Kelly (UMBC), started on the mound for Marshall, giving up four runs (2 ER) on eight hits over six and two-thirds innings, with five strikeouts and two walks. Madison scored in the first inning as Ethan Lipp hit a 2-out RBI double followed by an RBI single by Sophomore Colin Tuft. Both runs were unearned and gave Madison an early 2-0 lead.

Gjormand was outstanding for the Warhawks, showing command with all his pitches in an efficient complete game. Marshall scored in the sixth inning as Junior Danny Hoffman singled and Junior catcher Corey Lauer doubled to score him. Gjormand ended the threat with two strikeouts.

For Madison Lipp, Gjormand and Senior Luke Erdmann (Washington & Lee) all had two hits, with Lipp going 2-3 with two doubles and three RBIs.. For Marshall, Hoffman was 2-3.
