The Covenant School RHP/MIF and Class of 2017 Prospect Games participant Will Moore has committed to attend the College of William & Mary in the fall of 2017. Haney will be joined at William & Mary by Covenant teammate Jacob Haney (MIF/RHP, 2017), who also recently committed to The Tribe. The Covenant School had a strong spring with a very young team in 2015, and advanced to the VISAA Division 2 tournament before their season came to a close. The Eagles should improve with age in 2016 and will have a good one-two punch on the mound in Moore and Haney.

Moore has an athletic frame and throws from a low three-quarters arm slot with a smooth drop and drive delivery. He has a long, loose arm action and a quick armstroke that generates velocity with normal effort. His shoulders are uphill and closed as he strides out on line to a closed landing before falling off as he finishes. At the Class of 2017 Top Prospect Games in July, Moore’s fastball sat 79-83 and had late sink to it. He threw a slider that had late downer break to it with decent armspeed and ran 72-76. His changeup was thrown with decent armspeed and had armside run, sitting 68-72. Overall his command was decent, as he was around the zone with all three pitches.

When Moore arrives at William & Mary, he should be able to help the Tribe immediately on the mound as a guy who can come in and get ground balls with his sinking fastball. As his career progresses and he fills out while on a college strength program, Moore has the stuff and athleticism to add velocity and to develop into a weekend starter.
