The Diamondskills All-American Camp began this past weekend on January 5th, kicking off our 2019 coverage. A deep a talented pool of young talent was on display at the event hosted on the campus of Georgetown Prep in Bethesda, MD. PBR will be covering this event throughout its entirety, and today we give you some a taste of eight young prospects who stood out from the 2021 and 2022 classes.

Each Monday for the next three weeks we will have coverage from the event. As pitchers took the mound for the first time, we will get more detail on them later on after they have some time to continue to build up their arm strength.

Note: At the conclusion of the All-American Camp, we will have player profiles updated with video and statistics from the event.

Bryce Curry IF Damascus (MD) 2022
This talented young infielder looks to have nice offensive potential with a short swing and nice bat speed at the plate. Curry showed nice rhythm during his BP session and athleticism when doing defensive drills. Saw plenty of offensive potential on day one. Keep an eye on this young talent.

Jesus Del Valle IF Bishop Ireton (VA) 2021
Del Valle has switched schools and will now play in the more competitive WCAC as part of the Ireton squad. That looks to be a nice decision as the middle infield prospect looks to be growing into his projectable frame and continued to show a nice foundation offensively with his hands and bat speed. An early 60-yard dash hovering around 7.0 give thought that he could stay in the middle down the road as well.

Casey Gibbs C St. John's College 2021
The switch-hitting Gibbs showed off to me a high level of athleticism and quickness with a short stroke at the plate and fast bat speed. Gibbs ran a sub-7 60-on Day 1 and also showed a quick exchange to release from behind the dish. Offensively there is plenty of potential to be another exciting young prospect for the Cadets.

Tim Nicholson C Georgetown Prep (MD) 2021
Nicholson again showed off his athleticism defensively with sound receiving skills and quick twitch in all of his actions. Offensively there is plenty of upside and potential as the prospect looks to continue the trend of talented catchers for the Little Hoyas.

Eli Putnam IF Walt Whitman (MD) 2021
Putnam has a nice long frame with some strength and room to add more down the road. He has a more drawn out load at the plate, but showed strong hands and bat speed at the plate. Best strength is to his pull side right now, but that should continue to get better down the road.

Jason Schiavone IF St. John's College (DC) 2021
The more I watch Schiavone play, the more I like his potential down the road. Initial thoughts lead me to believe that he could stay in the middle as an infielder and his short swing along with bat speed at the plate show nice offensive upside.

James Wood OF/RHP St. John's College (DC) 2021
Wood jumped onto our scene at the Maryland Fall Invitational last November and has been playing basketball this winter so far for the Cadets. Its hard to know how many opportunities the young talent has had to get in the cages, but the swing did not look like there was much rust. The imposing 6-foot-5 outfielder shows impressive bat speed from the left side and power potential. Just an overall impressive talent with high upside.
