Woodbridge outfielder and 2015 Underclass Invitational and Fall Prospect Games Participant Scott Morgan has committed to attend George Mason University in the fall of 2017. Morgan is the second current Viking to commit to play after high school, joining senior Josh Pietrandrea (1B, Maryland-Eastern Shore). Woodbridge is coming off of a winning season that saw them reach the Conference 4 Semi-Finals before being eliminated in a tight game by Forest Park.

Scouting Report from the Underclass Invitational:

Morgan hit from a tall and athletic stance.  Smooth load back with a leg kick and short stride.  Stayed on line and balanced throughout.  Had presence with a great approach and fluid rhythm.  Took a short path to the ball with extension.  Line drive/gap-to-gap stroke with power potential.  Hands could be electric in the near future.  Han an Exit Velocity of 87 mph.  In the field, threw from an over the top arm slot with a long loose arm action.  Throws had carry and were accurate.  Had good actions.  Played through the baseball and had clean and quick exchanges.  Footwork was quick but choppy at times.  Had a Positional Velocity of 81 mph.

When he arrives at George Mason, Morgan can help the Patriots immediately as a powerful lefthanded bat off of the bench. He has the arm strength and athleticism to stick in rightfield throughout his career, but could move to first base if needed to fit into the lineup. Morgan has the potential to become a true middle of the order thumper during his career with significant home run power.

Congratulations Scott!!!
