VA/DC Scout Blog 5/23/18

Famiglietti has an athletic frame with some projection left to it. At third base, had a stellar night. Good first step and positions body well, soft hands and good rhythm and instincts fielding. Made two good plays to backhand, one a sliding shorthop pickup on a hard two hopper, the other was farther up the line and he took a good angle to cut off. Also made a good play to gloveside, cutting off an in-between hop and playing through it in rhythm, making the play look a lot easier than it was. At the plate, used whole field and showed some batspeed, the video below was a lineout to center that he barreled and got some carry on. The defense is there and the bat has a chance to be very good as well as he continues to develop.

Preseason All-State 2/17/18

Famiglietti is 5-11 with an athletic frame that still has a lot of projection left to it. He hits from the right side from an open balanced athletic stance. Short stride on line, loads back to a wrap, some rhythm to his swing. Hips rotate completely and have some explosion, maintains some balance during his swing. Slightly uphill path, stays inside ball well, showed good approach working gap to gap, line drive hitter with potential for doubles power, exit velocity 86. On the infield, clean feet, rounds ball and fields with a wide base and above average hands. Pushes through the ball and gains ground on a clean exchange, throws from a three-quarters arm slot with a shorter arm action, infield velocity was 80. Ran a 4.40 home to first. On the mound, throws from a three-quarters arm slot, short arm action is free and loose, normal effort to his delivery. Shoulders are uphill and closed, lands closed with a fall off finish. Fastball was 78-80 with some late boring action to armside. Curveball had gradual 10/4 break and good armspeed, running 68-70, shape is good and pitch has potential as it tightens. Change-up was 70-73 with some sinking action and was thrown with some armspeed.

11.5.17: Famiglietti is 5-11 with a lanky frame, he hits from the right side from an open athletic stance. Short stride, smooth load back with slight wrap, some rhythm to his swing. Explosive lower half and some balance to swing. Short to ball with some bat speed, level line drive swing, good approach worked gap to gap, exit velocity was 82. At third, good feet, rounds ball well and fields it with a wide base and above average hands. Plays through the ball to a clean exchange, throws from a three-quarters arm slot with a short arm action, infield velocity was 80. On the mound, throws from a low three-quarters arm slot with a longer free arm action and normal effort. Shoulders level and uphill, lands closed with an athletic finish. Fastball was 76-78 with heavy run. Slider was 66-68 with good armspeed and late sharp 10/4 break. Change-up was 70-73 with good armspeed and some fade.
