Wednesday night, No. 18 Broad Run hosted James Wood in the Region 4C Championship game, with the winner advancing to next week's State Tournament. The Spartans tabbed 2021 LHP Connor Hale (Villanova) for the start and James Wood went with Luke Gross.

Hale worked a perfect first and then the Spartans picked up 2 runs in the bottom half of the inning on an RBI groundout and an error. In the second, Aden Payne led off the James Wood half with a home run. After a single, Hale was able to retire the next three hitters to end the inning. Broad Run added 3 more runs in the bottom of the second, highlighted by a Tyler Morley RBI single. After two, the Spartans had a 5-1 lead.

After neither team scored in the third, James Wood scratched another run in the top of the fourth and again the Spartans responded immediately. This time Broad Run again put up four runs in their rally, highlighted by a 2-RBI double off the bat of Andrew Market. After four, the Spartan lead was 9-2.

The Spartans would score four more in the bottom of the sixth to end the game and capture the Region 4C Championship, with a final score of 13-3. They await the winner of the Region 4D Championship game, and will host either Jefferson Forest or Halifax County in Tuesday's Class 4 State Semifinal.
