Colonial Forge

Brock Stempin RHP / Colonial Forge, VA / 2025

Stempin has a tall 6-4+ frame that is lanky with a lot of projection left to it. Simple delivery, longer loose arm action, throws from a high three-quarters arm slot, very easy effort. Fastball was 80-81 with downward angle and a touch of boring action to armside. Curveball was 72-73 with good armspeed an sharp 11/5 break. Has some shape and a chance to tighten into a good pitch. Showed ability to throw fastball to both sides of the plate and to throw breaking ball in and out of the zone. Very raw with a ton of upside, will be interesting to see him again later in the season.

Gainesville

Caden Merritt OF / RHP / Gainesville, VA / 2025

Merritt is 6-1 with an athletic frame that has some good strength present and projection left to it. Got pitched around at the plate, but did show pretty well on the mound in his outing. Longer quick arm action from a higher three-quarters arm slot. Creates deception with closed off shoulders as he strides out, hiding the ball. Throws with normal effort. Fastball was 81-82, touching 84, with downward angle and a bit of late armside run to it. Showed two breaking balls with different shapes. Curveball was 70-72 slider was 72-73. Curveball has bigger 11/5 to almost 12/6 break to it. Slider flashed on the day, with late tight 10/4 break to it, getting swing and misses. Showed a lot of confidence and feel in his breaking balls, throwing quite a few of them. Good start to the season, also another one to check in on later this spring.
