Over the last weekend of October and the first weekend of November, Stars Showcase Baseball held a series of Scout Day workouts with the PBR VA/DC, PBR MD/DE, and PBR West Virginia staffs in attendance to record stats and video as well as scout the players. The weekends were broken down by age group, with 16U and 17U working out on October 31 and November 1, and 15U working out on November 7. Today we give you our pitchers scout blog.

Session I

Liam Golden RHP / West Springfield, VA / 2021

Golden was very impressive during his bullpen att eh scout day, showing off a long loose arm with arm speed and deception in the delivery. Got some crossbody action upon landing with good backside involvment through release. Was able to create nice velocity with regular effort. His long and athletic frame shows there is still much more room left and with the way his arm worked, would not be surprised to see more velo down the road as he develops. Golden was uncommitted at the event, but made his pledge to the Naval Academy less than a week after.

Matthew Westley 3B / RHP / Charles Colgan , VA / 2023

Virginia Tech commit. Another extremely interesting arm, short quick action that hides it well with fast arm speed. Pitches wth intent. Athletic frame with some physicality already. Smooth delivery with some explosiveness through release. Breaking balls has late 11/5 action and shorter break and has a lot of swing and miss in it. Fastball has late life on the pitch and gets on the hitter quickly. Shows a nice arsenal of pitches already.

Jordan Capuano RHP / Patriot , VA / 2023

Strong athletic frame with room for more. shorter arm action that hides it well. Ball jumps out of hand. Efficient delivery with regular effort. Fastball showed later sink to the pitch that was up to 88 on the day. Breaking ball had hard 11/5 action with excellent arm speed. Very hard to differentiate between FB and BB. Uncommitted and should be on plenty of radars.

Darren Osborne RHP / OF / Freedom , VA / 2022

Quick athletic arm out of Freedom HS. Osborne showed nice pitch ability between his fastbaall, breaking ball and cutter. Relatively light effort with good backside involvement through release.  Breaking ball showed potential to be a good pitch with 11/5 shape and fastball arm speed. I am a big fan of the cutter and he showed good feel for the pitch at 79-80, about 4-6 mph difference off the fastball. Durable frame and repeatably delivery.

Jake Roberti RHP / 2B / West Springfield, VA / 2021

Super interesting arm in the 21 class was Roberti. Had some pace in the delivery, high leg kick and south, quick, athletic arm. Nice qhip and quickness in the arm with fast arm speed. Was a little raw on the mound, but all the stuff showed to be good pitches and isnt far off really commanding them. Average lower half, more there in term of velo. Liked the breaking ball thought it played along with all of his stuff.

Nathan Bishop LHP / OF / Patriot , VA / 2022

High leg kick with effiecient delviery. Clean smooth arm from the left side at a three0quarter slot. Relatively easy effort with arm speed and the ball came out of hand real well. More in this tank. Thought the breaking ball played, nice 10/4 action and good arm speed to compliment the fastball.

Jakob Foster RHP / 3B / Patriot, VA / 2023

Foster continues to climb through the years I've got to see his development. The arm is cleaning up well and is really starting to get nice arm speed with it as he is showing increased strength. Had a mix in the arsenal with distinct difference in shape between the curve and slider. Its shorter arm action quick with some whip and had already made a nice jump and there is more to come. One to def keep an eye on the bump.

Owen Basso SS / RHP / St. Albans, VA / 2023

Another really interesting arm for me because it begins with his lower slot. Quick arm with elbow lift throwing from a near side arm slot. Average lower half and more to fill out in frame so wouldn't be surprised to see more in velo as he develops.  FAstball had life and nice two plane action with sink and run in to a righty hitter. Slider was a sweeper with good arm speed and change has bigger run and sink with fastball arm speed. Really like the potential in this one to see how he develops in the next couple years.

Parker Hogge RHP / 3B / Patriot, VA / 2022

Another one with a short deceptive arm action. Three quarter slot with average lower half involvement. Breaking ball is a good pitch with potential for more. Later life and short break. Fastball has slight sink to the pitch and pitched at 85-86 with relative ease. More there ad he fills out the strong and projectable frame.

Trevor Orth SS / RHP / South County, VA / 2022

Athletic, quick arm from an over the top slot. Quick and works with more to come as he gets more efficient with entire body in the delivery. Fastball gets out of hand well. Breaking ball shows 11/5 action with a later break. Change has graduall run to the pitch and some sink. More here and interesting 22 to keep an eye on.

Connor Knox RHP / 1B / Colgan, VA / 2022

Compact frame who shows advanced control for his age. Fills up the strike zone with high spin rate on the fatball that should create plenty of uncomfortable swings. Velocity ranged ftom 85-86 with a 73-75 breaking ball. Later action on the hard pitch and again showed excellent feel for the pitch. Pounds the zone and attacks hitters. s
