TPG II: Pitcher Analysis

In early August, PBR VA/DC hosted the Top Prospect Games II at Virginia Tech University. Over 30 players from multiple classes and all corners of Virginia took part in the event, and we continue our analysis of those players today with the pitchers.

 

Noah Canterbury OF / LHP / Buffalo Gap, VA / 2021

Canterbury is 6-0 with a lankier athletic frame that has plenty of projection left to it. He throws from a three-quarters arm slot with a shorter arm action that is loose and quick, some effort to his delivery. Shoulders are uphill and on line, lands on line with a slight fall off. Fastball 77-80, touching 81, with some downward plane and a bit of late run to armside that also had some depth. Curveball was 65-67 with good armspeed and late 1/7 break.

 

 

Jason Cheifetz RHP / OF / Westfield, VA / 2022

Cheifetz has committed to James Madison, he is 5-11 with a lankier athletic frame that has plenty of projection left to it. He throws from a low three-quarters arm slot with a shorter arm action that is loose and lightning quick, easy effort to his delivery. Shoulders are uphill and closed, lands closed with an athletic finish and some recoil, simple clean delivery. Fastball 83-86, touching 87, with some late run to armside that gets a bit of sink as well. Curveball was 67-69 with good armspeed and sharp 11/5 break. True slider was 77-79 with good armspeed and late 10/4 break. Ability to throw all three for strikes.

 

 

 

Chase Creasy RHP / 2B / Mataoca , VA / 2021

Creasy is 5-11 with a lanky frame that has a lot of projection left to it. He throws from a low three-quarters arm slot with a short arm action that is free and quick, normal effort to his delivery. Shoulders are level and closed, lands closed with a fall-off finish. Fastball was 74-77 and had some late run to it. Curveball was 63-67 and had some armspeed and sharp 10/4 break. Change-up was 68-70 and had some armspeed and fading action.

 

 

 

Zach Danielczyk 3B / RHP / Oakton, VA / 2023

Danielcyzk is 6-1 with an athletic frame that has some projection left to it. He throws from a lower three-quarters arm slot with a shorter arm action that is free and quick, normal effort to his delivery. Shoulders are uphill and closed, lands closed with an athletic finish. Fastball 74-76, touching 77, with some late sink. Curveball was 63-65 with some armspeed and sharp 11/5 break.

 

 

Reid Driskill 2B / RHP / Brookville, VA / 2022

Driskill is 6-1 with a lankier athletic frame that has plenty of projection left to it. He throws from a high three-quarters arm slot with a longer arm action, breaking down before shortening up through armstroke. Arm is free and quick, normal effort to his delivery. Shoulders are uphill and closed, lands closed with an athletic finish. Fastball 77-80, touching 81, with downward plane and a bit of late cut. Curveball was 62-64 with some armspeed and gradual 11/5 break.

 

 

Ethan Gibson SS / RHP / Abingdon, VA / 2023

Gibson is 5-10 with a lankier athletic frame that has plenty of projection left to it. He throws from a three-quarters arm slot with a short quick arm action, normal effort to his delivery. Shoulders are level and closed, lands on line with a fall off finish. Fastball 81-82, touching 83, with some late run. Curveball had some armspeed and sharp 11/5 break.

 

 

Riley Hill OF / 2B / Franklin County, VA / 2022

Hill is 5-3 with an athletic frame that has plenty of projection left to it. He throws from a three-quarters arm slot with a longer arm action that is free and quick, normal effort to his delivery. Shoulders are uphill and slightly closed, lands open with a fall off finish. Fastball 71-74, touching 76, with some late run to armside. Curveball was 61-63 with some armspeed and gradual 11/5 break, has some shape and a chance to tighten into a good pitch.

 

 

Christian Lancaster RHP / 2B / Chatham, VA / 2021

Lancaster is 6-0 with an athletic frame that has some projection left to it. He throws from a three-quarters arm slot with a short loose arm action that is quick, normal effort to his delivery. Drop and drive delivery, shoulders are level and on line, lands slightly closed with a slight fall off finish. Fastball 80-83, touching 84, with some late run and a bit of downward plane. Curveball was 69-71 with good armspeed and gradual 11/5 break that has a chance to tighten. Change-up was 70-74 with some armspeed and heavy sink to it. Showed command of all three and ability to move fastball around the zone.

 

 

Andrew LaPrade SS / RHP / Rustburg , VA / 2021

LaPrade is 6-1 with a lankier athletic frame that has plenty of projection left to it. He throws from a lower three-quarters arm slot with a short free arm action that is quick, normal effort to his delivery. Drop and drive delivery, shoulders are level and closed, lands on line with an athletic finish. Fastball 76-79, touching 80, with some late run. Curveball was 67-69 with good armspeed and hard late 11/5 break.

 

 

Kyle Rucker OF / RHP / Franklin County , VA / 2021

Rucker is 5-9 with a lankier athletic frame that has plenty of projection left to it. He throws from a low three-quarters arm slot with a short arm action that is free, normal effort to his delivery. Shoulders are level and on line, lands closed with an athletic finish, simple repeatable delivery. Fastball 69-73, with late run to armside that gets depth as well. Curveball was 66-68 with good armspeed and gradual 11/5 break.

 

 

Jordan Tyler OF / RHP / Grassfield , VA / 2022

Tyler is 6-3 with a lanky frame that has a lot of projection left to it. He throws from a high three-quarters arm slot with a long arm action that is free, normal effort to his delivery. Shoulders are uphill and on line, lands closed with an athletic finish. Fastball 71-75, touching 77, with some late cut to it. Curveball was 62-63 with some armspeed and 11/5 break.
