The Buzz: Bryan Hoeing (IN) Back On The Mound

By Nathan Rode and PBR Staff

Forgive us for sounding like a broken record, but Indiana’s Class of 2015 arms is special. RHP Ashe Russell (Cathedral HS, IN) is a potential first-round pick and showed an electric arsenal at every stop last summer and fall. RHP Nolan Watson (Lawrence North HS, IN), a Vanderbilt recruit, was solid on the showcase circuit, but has taken a step forward this spring and has scouts buzzing. The upside of the state’s draft class seemingly took a hit over the winter when RHP Bryan Hoeing (Batesville HS, IN) tore his ACL playing basketball and was expected to miss a large chunk of the season. But the Louisville recruit had other things in mind. Hoeing’s doctor had told him it would be four months before he could move around, let alone pitch in games, but he was back on the mound for Batesville on Tuesday, April 14. He pitched six innings, allowing two hits and a walk while striking out seven. Via text, Hoeing said his knee felt good and he’s close to being 100 percent again. He’s not sure when his next start is as he just got cleared to start throwing in games and wants to take it easy until he is at full strength.
