The Rode Show: Arms On Display At IMG National Classic

By Nathan Rode and Mike Maerz

BRADENTON, FL—After a day full of rain, the IMG National Classic got back on schedule Tuesday with most of the participating teams playing doubleheaders. With perfect weather rolling in, Wednesday started off well with two high profile arms getting starts at 10 a.m.

RHP Austin Bergner (Windermere Prep, FL) took the hill against Troup County HS, GA, with close to a dozen scouts bearing down on him behind the plate. Bergner went three innings, allowing one run on five hits and a hit batter. He didn’t walk anybody and struck out five, throwing 45 of his 65 pitches for strikes.
