In August, over 50 players took the field at Virginia Sports Complex to take part in our third Unsigned Senior Games with over 15 colleges looking on. Players had their stats and videos taken and participated in a game. We begin our analysis of the event by looking at the catchers and corner infielders.

 

 

 

Joe Alexander RHP / 1B / Loudoun County, VA / 2019 Alexander is 6-3 with a lanky frame that has projection left to it. He hits from the right side from an open balanced stance, short stride on line, short smooth load back, hips rotate completely with explosion and he maintains balance during his swing. Short uphill swing path with some extension through contact, exit velocity was 80. At first base, fields with a wide base and above average hands, throws from a high three-quarters arm slot, infield velocity was 78. Ran a 7.10 60 yard dash.

 

 

Sam Beard C / RHP / Brentsville District , VA / 2019 Beard is 6-0 with an athletic frame that has some projection left to it. He hits from the right side from an open athletic stance, leg kick stride on line, short smooth load back, hips rotate completely with some explosion and he maintains balance during his swing. Level line drive swing, gets uphill a bit to pull side, has some batspeed and showed gap power, exit velocity was 84. Behind the plate, quick clean exchange. He throws from a high three-quarters arm slot with a short arm action, position velocity was 76 and pop times were 2.02-2.07, showed accuracy on his throws. Ran a 7.48 60 yard dash.

 

 

Gunner Canary RHP / 3B / Riverside, VA / 2019 Canary is 6-3 with a lanky frame that has a lot projection left to it. He hits from the right side from an open athletic stance, short stride on line, short load back, hips rotate completely. Short to ball, uphill swing path with extension through the ball, exit velocity was 70. At third, fields with a wider base and above average hands, rounds ball and works through it, feet work. He throws from a low three-quarters arm slot, infield velocity was 82. Showed versatility taking balls in the outfield, velocity there was 83.

 

 

Joseph DeBardi 3B / RHP / Highland, VA / 2019 Debardi is 5-11 with an athletic frame that has some projection left to it, he has committed to Mount St. Mary's since the Senior Games. He hits from the right side from an open athletic stance, good rhythm with an on line stride, short smooth load down and back, hips rotate completely with explosion and he maintains some balance during his swing. Short to ball, slightly uphill path with extension through ball, showed good approach working middle of the field, strength at contact, exit velocity was 92. At third, quick active feet, rounds ball and fields with wider base and above average hands, quick clean exchange. He throws from a high three-quarters arm slot, position velocity was 81. Ran a 7.07 60 yard dash.

 

 

Cody Franklin 3B / 1B / Deep Creek , VA / 2019 Franklin is 6-0 with a strong frame. He hits from the right side from an open athletic stance, strides on line, short load back into a wrap, hips rotate completely and he maintains some balance during his swing. Short to ball, slightly uphill path, showed a slight pull preference with some power to his pull side, strength at contact, exit velocity was 90. At third, gets body behind ball and fields with average hands, clean exchange. He throws from a three-quarters arm slot, position velocity was 71.

 

 

Andrew Frye C / 2B / Forest Park, VA / 2019 Frye is 5-10 with an athletic frame that has some projection left to it. He hits from the right side from an open athletic stance, short leg kick stride on line, short load back into a wrap, hips rotate completely and he maintains some balance during his swing. Short to ball, slightly uphill path with some extension through the ball, showed good approach working middle of the field, line drive swing, exit velocity was 83. Kendall Hinton C / OF / Warwick, VA / 2019 Hinton is 5-10 with a lankier athletic frame that has some projection left to it. He hits from the right side from an open athletic stance, short stride on line, short load back into a slight wrap, hips rotate completely and he maintains some balance during his swing. Short to ball, slightly uphill path with some extension through the ball, showed slight pull preference, line drive swing with carry, exit velocity was 82. Behind the plate, clean exchange. He throws from a high three-quarters arm slot with a short arm action, position velocity was 74 and pop times were 2.22-2.28. Showed versatility taking balls in the outfield, outfield velocity was 76.

 

 

Samuel Horn 1B / RHP / James Monroe, VA / 2019 Horn is 6-3 with an athletic frame that has plenty of projection left to it. He has committed to Shenandoah since the Senior Games. He hits from the right side from a balanced athletic stance, short stride on line, short load back, hips rotate completely with explosion, some balance to swing. Short to ball, slightly uphill swing path line drive swing, pull approach with extension through the ball and some pop, exit velocity was 95. At first, gets behind ball and fields with average hands and a wider base. He throws from a high three-quarters arm slot, position velocity was 80. Ran a 7.06 60 yard dash.

 

 

Jordan Jenkins C / 3B / Western Branch , VA / 2019 Jenkins is 5-8 with an athletic frame that has some projection left to it. He hits from the right side from an open upright stance, short stride on line, short load back, hips rotate completely and he maintains some balance during his swing. Short to ball, uphill path with some extension through the ball, showed slight pull preference, exit velocity was 75. Behind the plate, clean exchange. He throws from a high three-quarters arm slot with a short arm action, position velocity was 73 and pop times were 2.07-2.18.

 

 

Carter Johnson 3B / RHP / Southampton, VA / 2019 Johnson is 5-10 with an athletic frame that has some projection left to it. Cameron Kerr C / RHP / Heritage (Leesburg), VA / 2019 Kerr is 6-3 with an athletic frame that has some projection left to it. Noah Knapp RHP / 1B / First Colonial, VA / 2019 Knapp is 6-1 with an athletic frame that has some projection left to it. Evan Williams C / OF / Clover Hill, VA / 2019 Williams is 5-10 with an athletic frame that has some projection left to it. He hits from the right side from an athletic stance, short leg kick stride on line, loads back, hips rotate completely and he maintains some balance during his swing. Short to ball, slightly uphill path, showed slight pull preferenc, exit velocity was 80.
