Scouting Report

5.24.17: Celata has an athletic frame, drop and drive delivery, throws from a low three-quarters arm slot. Good rhythm to delivery, normal effort, shorter arm action that is quick at the end. Shoulders are closed and level, lands a bit closed with some recoil. Fastball had heavy armside run, sitting 83-85 early in the game. Give a bit away in the slide step, works 81-83, touches 84. Held velocity well in game. Sharp slider with good armspeed and 10/4 break, ran 71-75. Held very good Miller offense scoreless two trips through the order. Showed he can pitch in the moment with a bulldog mentality, working his way out of a first-inning jam with a pair of strikeouts.

8.23.16 - Arm strength flashed from shortstop, along with average hands and a fluid, quick exchange. The positional velocity measured at 85mph across the infield. Offensively, an advanced approach and feel for the barrel allowed his strength to be maximized. Level with a gap-to-gap approach and produced an exit velocity of 83mph. Sixty was measured at 7.74... On the mound, the 6-foot-1, 170 pound righty sat 78-81 and featured a slider at 67-70, from a slightly slower arm, producing an early acting cutter at times. The change sat 70-73. All three pitches worked the strike zone, from his high-3/4 slot with an average to above arm speed. There is some effort in the delivery as it works on-line and finishes athletic.

3.22.16: Celata has a lanky frame and throws from a low three-quarters arm slot with a rushed drop and drive delivery. He has a short arm action that is a bit stiff in the back but is lightning fast through its armstroke, generating velocity with some effort. His shoulders are closed and uphill as he strides to a square landing with a hard fall off and slight recoil. Celata's fastball has heavy run, sitting 81-83. His curveball had 11/5 action, running 68-69.
