Sunday night, Major League Baseball began its 2021 Rule 4, or Amateur Draft. Only the First Round and Competitive Balance A picks were made Sunday night, a total of 36 players being selected. The draft resumed on Monday with Rounds 2-10 and then concluded on Tuesday with Rounds 11-20. While longer than last year's Covid-shortened five round draft, this year's draft is again shorter than the traditional 40 rounds.

On Monday, we put out a preview of Prep and College players from VA/DC high schools that we thought could be drafted. Here are the players who were selected this year:

Round Name High School Draft Pos Grad Year College (Commitment) MLB Team
2nd Andrew Abbott Halifax County LHP 2017 Virginia Reds
2nd James Triantos James Madison 3B 2021 North Carolina Cubs
5th Evan Justice Collegiate School LHP 2017 NC State Rockies
5th Ethan Murray Miller School SS 2018 Duke Brewers
7th Bradford Webb Randolph-Henry RHP 2017 VCU (Hampden-Syndey Grad) Rangers
8th Hunter Gregory Hickory RHP 2017 Old Dominion Blue Jays
10th Wesley Clarke Liberty Christian C 2018 South Carolina Brewers
10th Hunter Perdue Grassfield RHP 2017 Florida State (via SC FL-Manatee) Marlins
11th Nic Kent St. Anne's-Belfield SS 2018 Virginia Rockies
13th Patrick Halligan George Marshall RHP 2018 Pensacola State Royals
14th Antonio Menendez Herndon RHP 2017 Wake Forest Rays
16th Anthony Simonelli Millbrook RHP 2017 Virginia Tech (via St. John's River) Royals
18th Will Wagner Miller School 2B 2017 Liberty Astros
18th Adam Hackenburg Miller School C 2018 Clemson White Sox
19th Justice Bigbie Grassfield C 2017 Western Carolina Tigers
19th Thomas Francisco Abingdon 1B 2018 East Carolina Cardinals

While those were the players that were drafted, there will undoubtedly be a handful of other players who sign as free agents after the draft's conclusion, more so than in normal years after two straight shortened drafts. One example of this so far is Osbourn Park 2017 alum and Kyle Whitten (Virginia), who has signed with the Rays.
