Another week of action means its time for another update to the Power 25. The regular season is quickly coming to a close, and while rain wiped out the end of the week, there was plenty of action in the first part of the week.

Hanover stays in the top spot of the Power 25 and remains unbeaten against Virginia opponents after rallying to pull out a tight win against rival Mechanicsville on Thursday. Cannon Peebles (NC State) and Seth Keller (Old Dominion) had big days at the plate and Charlie Rohr slammed the door, getting the last 5 outs of the game with 4 strikeouts to pick up the save in the Hawks’ win.

Liberty Christian defeated rival Jefferson Forest on Monday, 2-1. LCA’s Will Palmer and JF’s Breckin Nace were both outstanding in their 5 innings of work, each striking out double digit hitters. 2022  Tanner Thomas (Longwood) delivered the go-ahead run for LCA with an RBI single and finished the game 2-3 with a walk.

Independence won its rematch against Riverside on Tuesday, splitting their matchups and putting the two of them into a tie atop the Potomac District. The score 3-3 at the end of 5 innings before the Tigers erupted for 5 runs in the top of the sixth with the big blows coming via a 2-run double by 2023 David Mendez (Dayton) and a home run off of the bat of 2023 Tyler Fetterman.

Wilson pulled the biggest upset of the week on Monday winning at Highland, handing the Hawks their second loss of the season and snapping their long winning streak. Tiger senior Kai Leckzas (Georgetown) was very good for 5 innings and then Wilson broke the game open with a 4-run sixth inning en route to a 9-6 win. Senior Elias Rosario was 4-4 with 2 doubles and 2 RBIs.

Cosby continued their recent hot run, pushing their winning streak to 10 games with a trio of wins over Glen Allen, LC Bird, and Manchester. Cosby was a team that we had ranked in the Preseason Power 25 and got off to a slow start, but the Titans haven’t lost since the first few days of April.
