This spring we take a different approach to the unveiling of our Preseason Power25 teams across the commonwealth/DC. Instead of one full release, we will be doing a countdown starting today and running all the way to the beginning of the high school season. Over the course of the next 2.5 weeks, we will be counting down our preseason top 25.

Outlook

The Trojans will have a very interesting team returning for the 2019 spring, with a strong core of returners back and depth and talent on on the pitching staff this year. Re-assuming the ace role in the rotation will be 2019 Camdton Furman, who should be the workhorse of the staff this season. There is a question mark behind Furman, but a bevy of young and talented arms lie in waiting who will be called upon to take a bigger role in 2019. The young 2021's arm we mentioned earlier are among those who will see an increase in innings, where Lovasz saw the most innings during his freshman year. Haines is an interesting arm to watch with a free arm action who shows arm speed. 2020 LHP Alex Kyte is another returning arm with some expierence last season who should also see an increase in role this spring. Him and Vanderslice will give the Trojans two nice left-handed options.

Offensively the team will roll with Christian Chambers at the top of the order. Coming off a season hitting .426 with a .537 OBP and 20 runs scored (12 SB),  he should continue to create havoc as a table setter. Furman will also be a key bat in the lineup after hitting over .500 in 13 games last season. Look for Logan Smith to continue to build off his impressive 2018 season where he hit .426 with 17 RBI. The senior back stop not only provides the offensive power, but will handle the staff for most of the season as well. Tyler Moore is coming off a strong season hitting .402 and should again put together another solid season in the middle of the order. Look for Evan Heine to also bolster the offensive attack building off of his 2018.

On paper it looks as though the biggest question for Midlo this spring will be who is going to step in to fill out the rotation. There looks to be some nice pieces on a young and deeper staff that should answer that. Who it will be is still yet to be determined. All in all, this looks like the makings of a strong year for Midlo in 2019 and that is why they come in at our No. 23 in the VA/DC Power25.
