Thursday afternoon saw Bishop O'Connell host The Heights in a WCAC matchup on their turf during a rainy afternoon. O'Connell started senior righty Jack O'Connor (Virginia) in the game. O'Connor would dominate for four innings, striking out 11. Tom Borque added two more punchouts in the fifth and the two of them combined on a no-hitter. The Knights cruised to a 9-0 victory in a game that was stopped after five innings, taking advantage of walks and some weather-induced errors to remain unbeaten in the WCAC.

O'Connor is a Virginia commit and has a tall physical pitchers frame with a strong lower half. He's an athlete, bats leadoff and runs for himself, stealing a base easily at one point in the game. On the mound, throws from a higher three-quarters arm slot, very short quick arm action, some effort to his delivery and recoil in his finish. Swings into an open landing with a bit of a spin off in his finish but not much. Fastball was 89-92, touching 93 once in the first inning, settled into 87-90 for innings 2-4. Pitch gets a bit of late boring action to armside. Showed control of pitch, throwing it primarily away but elevating from time to time. Primary offspeed during the game was his curveball, which was 73-76 with good armspeed and sharp hard 11/5 break. Threw one slider at 80, showed late tight 10/4 break in the bullpen. Conditions were tough, it was raining steadily most of the game with only a few breaks where it dropped to a mist. Getting a grip on the ball was a struggle for both teams all day, but O'Connor was able to do well enough to dominate an overmatched opponent. Struck out 11 in 4 innings with 2 walks and no hits allowed.
