Wednesday night saw neighboring schools Brentsville District and Patriot play for the first time in over a decade in a non-District matchup. Both teams started committed senior righthanders in the game, Brentsville going with Brayden Hutchison (Paul D. Camp CC) and Patriot going with Jakob Foster (Mount St. Mary's).

Foster worked a pretty quick top of the first innings and then the Patriot offense got started with a bang as sophomore Grady Lenahan (East Carolina) launched the second pitch of the bottom of the first to right-center for a leadoff home run. The Pioneers would take advantage of some miscues to open up a 4-0 lead after the first. Patriot added to the lead in the 2nd, again taking advantage of some defensive misplays that extended the lead to 9-0 after two. Patriot ended up cruising to a 14-0 victory in five innings, with Foster spinning a complete game 1-hitter for the Pioneers' second straight shutout, pushing them to a 5-0 start on the season.

Grady Lenahan OF / 2B / Patriot, VA / 2025

Lenahan is an East Carolina commit. In the outfield, moves well, quick first step and agile. Arm is average right now. At the plate, hits from the top of the order for Patriot from an athletic open stance. Loads back but then takes his hands straight to the ball, very quick hands and strong wrists. Strong at contact with extension through the ball. Showed an up the middle approach, hits in the game were lined home run to right center and a line drive off the pitcher. Line drive hitter with gap power now and some of those will carry out because the ball jumps off his bat.

Dominic Tilden SS / RHP / Patriot, VA / 2025

Tilden is 6-4 with a lanky frame that has a ton of room to add strength. Not gangly at all, moves really well at short, smooth quick actions and shows lateral quickness and range. Arm strength is average to maybe a tick above right now, but its a loose arm action with a chance to develop more strength. At the plate, taller athletic open stance. Very short swing right now, keeps hands in tight and lets the barrel work, some strength at contact. Short line drive swing right now that will show some doubles power to pull side, but a chance to start developing more power as he fills out, a ton of upside and a lot to like.
