A cool overcast Thursday evening saw Herndon take on Chantilly in the Region 6D quarterfinals. Both teams sent committed 2022s to the mound, with Herndon starting righthander Jackson Coen (Georgetown), making his first start after a preseason injury, and Chantilly going with righthander Owen Pierce (William & Mary)

Coen would end up being the story of the game, as he was dominant. Herndon scored in the first on a leadoff home run and then added 2 in the second and 2 in the third, but after the leadoff home run, very little mattered. Coen struck out every hitter he faced but 2, one who grounded out on the infield and another who he hit in the elbow pad. Coen went the distance to fire a no-hitter as Herndon cruised to a 10-0 win in six innings. Coen's final line was 6 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 17 K, 1 HBP.

Offensively for Herndon, Mitch Maurer was 3-4 with a home run and 2 RBI, Matt Neach was 3-3 with an RBI, Connor Brennan was 2-4 with 2 RBI, and Liam Willson (Wake Forest) was 2-3 with a BB, 2B, and an RBI.
