VA/DC Scout Blog: Ocean Lakes at #2 Cox 4/27

#2 Cox jumped out first with a Nate Hawley (VMI) no doubt homerun out of right field. Cox would extend their lead to 2-0 before Ocean Lakes senior shortstop Carson DeMartini (Virginia Tech) hit a two-run homerun out of center field to tie it up in the top of the third. The Falcons would go up 3-2 and then extend their lead to 4-2 after Nate Hawley would once again come through. This time it was a two out RBI double to left center. Ocean Lakes clawed back in the top of the seventh, scoring on a wild pitch and a well executed squeeze play tying it up at 4-4. In the bottom of the seventh Nate Hawley came up with runners on second and third with two outs and he walked it off with a single through the left side. Hawley was definitely the story of the day for Cox, as he had three hits and added nine strikeouts on the mound as well.
