VA/DC Scout Blog: West Springfield at Lake Braddock

Friday night saw West Springfield and Lake Braddock renew their rivalry with their latest showdown. Lake Braddock started junior Jamie Laskofski and West Springfield went with senior Jake Treasure. Braddock would get things going in a hurry in the first inning, loading the bases before junior shortstop Jake Drumm ripped a 3-run double into the leftfield corner to give Braddock the lead. Henry Pastel came in the second inning for West Springfield and mostly held the Bruins down as West Springfield was able to start chipping away at the deficit, cutting their hole to 4-2 after five innings. But Lake Braddock was able to put the game away in the bottom of the sixth, scoring five more runs that were highlighted by a pinch-hit RBI 2B from Pad Hall and a big 2-run knock from Ken McKeever. The final score was 9-2 as Lake Braddock took round one of this showdown.


West Springfield

 

 

 

Kaleb Williams SS / 3B / West Springfield , VA / 2025

Williams is 6-1 with a lankier frame that has plenty of projection left to it. He hits from the right side from a wider spread out stance. Very short to the ball and quick through the zone, slightly uphill path with a quick bat. Showed a pull approach in the game with some power present. Its gap power now but there is still a chance for him to grow into more. Played third in the game, moves well there and has a quick first step, plenty of arm strength across the diamond.

 

 

 

 

 

Lake Braddock

 

 

 

 

Jamie Laskofski SS / RHP / Lake Braddock, VA / 2024

Laskofski is 6-0 with an athletic frame and has strength present. He hits from the left side from a balanced athletic stance. He is quick to the ball with an uphill path, showed a pull approach in the game and gap power that way. Showed barrel feel, was on the barrel in all four of his at-bats, two hits and two sharp groundouts to second base. Will hit for high average and show plenty of extra base power.
