The Virginia Top Prospect Games were held on June 19th, 2018 on the campus of Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia. Today we highlight continue our initial thoughts from the event and the players involved.

Jacob Williams 3B / OF / Liberty Christian Academy, VA / 2019

Williams has a physical and explosive frame who looks like he could play linebacker when he isn't manning a corner position. He moves well for his size, and holds his own around the diamond whether it be in the outfield or at third base. At the plate, Williams makes loud contact with an aggressive swing and pop. Williams made some of the loudest contact on the day and looks to be a true power guy at the next level

Mark Smith 3B / RHP / Tallwood , VA / 2019

Smith is an interesting prospect in the 201 class who can provide two-way potential depending on the level with a fastball that was up to 86 mph and a projectable frame with room to add on. Where Smith showed the most was on the offensive end, making loud contact on the day ad power potential to the pull side. Smith has an athletic set up at the plate, and a longer level path with bat speed and strength. Smith should be one to keep an eye on through the summer.

Jake Wortman C / 3B / Colonial Forge, VA / 2019

Wortman has continued to develop very well on the offensive end with his short and simple stroke combined with gap power. Wortman shows bat speed from both sides of the plate with and uphill finish wanting to drive the baseball. Wortman showed the ability to spray the ball around te field with some power potential down the road and is a nice offensive prospect. Wortman shows some versatility on the diamond, with the ability to fill multiple positions the jury is still out as to what position Wortman will end up at the next level.

Gavin Younce C / 3B / Greenbrier Christian, VA / 2019

A physical athletic frame Younce posted the top pop time at the event with a 1.91 pop during the defensive segment. Younce brings quick hands at the plate with strength and should be a quality offensive option for a program. He is a quiet receiver with good hands and also shows nice hip control behind the plate who brings a blue collar mentality behind the dish who works hard back there and with his pitchers.

South Trimble 3B / SS / Frank W. Cox, VA / 2019

Trimble is a very interesting infield prospect with versatility to play around the infield and fill in there comfortably. Trimble handles the bat well on the day with a strong BP session and good in game at bats. He shows a quick level path at the plate that looks more gap to gap type hitting.

Quade Tomlin SS / Liberty Christian Academy, VA / 2020

One of the top players in the 2020 class, Tomlin showed us again why he is in that category with an impressive day of baseball. Smooth is the best way to describe the prospect out of Liberty Christian, as the young man plays the game with rhythm and makes the game slow down. Offensively its sweet and simple at the plate, with a short path with bat speed and rhythm. Tomlin has gap to gap ability at the plate and can bring surprising juice in the swing with extension through contact. Defensively Tomlin has cleans hands with sounds na smooth actions along with arm strength across the diamond. Excellent hand ey in the young player as during the games, Tomlin was able to deflect a well hit ball that went in the air, and he was able to bare hand the ball in the air and continue his throw across the diamond. A high level prospect and a top uncommitted player in the state and along the coast.
