3A East
3A East

Our Picks:

John Nolan
Championship: Poquoson defeats Colonial Heights
Dark Horse: Brentsville District. The Tigers are a scrappy team that is deep on the mound and plays clean defense.
Early Upset: Colonial Heights defeats Tabb. Noah Murdock (Virginia) gives the edge in the pitching matchup against just about anyone.
Best Game on Paper: Colonial Heights vs Poquoson, even more so if it were 2012 and Murdock could potentially throw the whole game on three day’s rest.

3A West (Updated 5/31 with bracket)

3A West

Our Picks:

John Nolan
Its hard to make picks without the brackets available, but here goes nothing:
Champion: Turner Ashby defeats Abingdon. The Knights are stacked, especially on the mound with Brenan Haniffee (East Carolina) and Justin Showalter (James Madison) to turn to.
Best Matchup: Turner Ashby vs Abingdon. The Falcons are a young team with the core of their elite talent in the 2018 class, meaning this is the beginning of a window that could see them deep in postseason play for the next few years as the team will be led by Cade Hungate (Flordia State) and Thomas Francisco (Liberty) for the next few years.
Dark Horse: Western Albemarle. The Warriors have a talented team that has just kept coming up on the wrong end of the scoreboard all spring.
Early Upset: Blacksburg defeats Magna Vista
