Region 6A Semifinals

No. 14 Cosby 5, No. 19 Thomas Dale 3
Everett Vaughan (High Point) went 6.1 IP, 3 R, 6 H with 8 K in the win. Alec Riles (Eastern Mennonite) was 3-4 and Nicholas Romano (Averett) was 2-4. 

 

Region 6B Quarterfinals

No. 5 Battlefield 4, Forest Park 1
Joe Christopher (Bridgewater) went 4 IP, 1 R, 4 H, 4 K. Adam Kuzmicki (Stony Brook) was 1-2 with a 2B and an RBI. Jack Pokorak was 2-3 for the Bruins.

Potomac 4, Riverbend 2
Cody Bosak struck out 10 in 6 inning of 3-hit scoreless ball. Dylan Heil and Kalei Grebin each had multi-hit games in the win. Nate Sherman was 3-3 with a BB for Riverbend.

No. 3 Colgan 4, John Champe 2
Connor Knox went the distance, allowing 2 R on 8 H while striking out 4 while going 1-2 with a BB and an RBI. Ryan Kennedy (Virginia Tech) was 2-2 with a BB. 

No. 6 Patriot 11, Colonial Forge 4
Jakob Foster went 6 IP, 3 R, 3 H to pick up the win. Bryce Demory (VMI) had a home run and 5 RBIs and Sean Corcoran also homered in the win. Gavin Riley was 1-1 with 3 BB and 2 RBIs.


 

Region 6C Quarterfinals

No. 11 Lake Braddock 9, Justice 2
Ryan Cuadros (College of Charleston) was 2-2 with a HR, a BB, and 3 RBIs in the win for the reigning Class 6 Champs. Michael Novak was 2-2 with a BB and an RBI for the Wolves.

Robinson 19, Annandale 5
Warren Holzemer (Virginia Tech) was 2-2 with a HR, 2 BB, and 3 RBIs and Ryan Quinn was 2-4 with 3 RBIs. Daniel Salisbury (Marymount) was 2-4 with 2 RBIs for the Atoms.

West Springfield 9, West Potomac 2
Liam Golden (Navy) went 6 IP, 0 R, 2 H, 12 K in the win while also going 2-3 with 2 BB and 2 RBI. Nolan Batson was 3-4 in the win.

Woodson 3, South County 2 (6)
This game was shortened by the lightning and ended by thunderstorms in the bottom of the sixth. Ben Smallwood went the distance for Woodson, going 6 IP, 2 R, 3 H, 3 K. Trevor Orth also threw the whole game, going 5.1 IP, 3 R, 5 H, 2 K for South County.


Region 6D Quarterfinals

No. 1 Madison 9, Westfield 1
James Triantos (North Carolina) went 5 IP, 1 R, 3 H, 7 K in the win while also going 1-1 with a HR and 3 BB at the plate. Colin Tuft (Virginia) was 2-4 with a 2B and 3 RBI. Kevin Mackmin (CNU) was 2-2 for the Bulldogs.

No. 20 Herndon 2, Langley 2
Game was suspended in the top of the 7th and will be continued Tuesday. We will recap Wednesday.

Yorktown 2, Centreville 1 (8)
Ryan Powers delivered the game-winning walk-off single for the Patriots. Nathan Knowles (William & Mary) struck out 9 in 7 innings of 3 hit ball while also going 1-3 with a 2B. Jake Carpenter went the distance for the Wildcats, going 7.2 IP, 2 R, 5 H, 8 K while also hitting a home run.

Chantilly 4, Wakefield 2
Marcus Dux (Virginia Tech) struck out 6 in 5.2 innings to earn the win. Scott Hodinko was 2-3 with a 2B, a BB, and 3 RBIs for the Chargers. Alex Wood was 2-3 for the Warriors.

 

Region 5A Quarterfinals

First Colonial 2, Granby 0
Junior Walker Fuller tossed 6.1 scoreless, 4-hit innings in the win, striking out 4. Drew Proctor was 2-2 and Ryan Peterson (VMI) and Jerry Barnes each had a hit and an RBI for the Patriots. Junior Jordan Hill threw 4 innings of 1-hit relief for the Comets and Jaiden Griffith was 1-1 with 2 BBs.

 

Region 5B Quarterfinals

No. 13 Glen Allen 6, Matoaca 2
Taylor Catlett struck out 6 in 3 innings of 1-hit scoreless relief. Andrew Harris was 2-3 with 3 RBIs. 

Douglas Freeman 5, JR Tucker 3
Macho Santiago (VCU) went 6.1 IP in the win with 7 K and was 1-3 with a BB and an RBI at the plate. Carson Herod was 1-2 with a BB and 2 RBIs. Peyton Hinton and Alex Hagerich each had 2 hits for Tucker.

Midlothian 12, Prince George 2
The game was 5-2 headed to the bottom of the sixth and Midlo blew it open with a 7 run inning to end the game. Carter Lovasz (William & Mary) went the distance, going 6 IP, 2 R, 3 H, 7 K. Connor Schumann (Old Dominion) was 2-4 with a 2B, 3B, and 3 RBIs and Connor Harrington was 3-3 with a 3B and an RBI. Marcus Bradshaw was 2-3 with a 2B, a HR, and 2 RBIs for the Royals.

No. 22 Mills Godwin 10, Deep Run 5
Luke Calveric and George Gustafson ha multi-hit games and Calveric had 2 RBIs in the win. Ryan Shwarz was 2-2 with a BB and 3 RBIs for the Wildcats.

 

 

Region 5D Quarterfinals

Stafford 8, Brooke Point 4
Nate Henry was 2-4 and Justin Newton had 2 RBIs for Stafford in the win. Ryan Knee was 2-4 for the Blackhawks.

North Stafford 6, Harrisonburg 3
Brian Schule and Keenan Fulwood combined on a no-hitter. Ryan Hawkins was 2-3 with a BB and an RBI. Dylan Burnette was strong in relief for the Blue Streaks, going 2.2 IP, 1 R, 4 H. 

 

 

Region 4A Quarterfinals

Menchville 3, Jamestown 2 (8)
The Monarchs walked it off on a wild pitch. Sam Souba scored the winning run and went 2-3 with a BB while Ty Gorbett was also 2-3 with a BB. Reid Lampert went 7 IP, 2 R, 7 K while also going 2-3 with a 2B, 2 BB, and an RBI for Jamestown.

Great Bridge 8, Warwick 3
Mike Keough went 5 IP, 3 R, 5 H, 4 K to pick up the win and Norman Jackson and Matthew Good each had 2 hits and 2 RBIs in the win. Sam Gupta was 1-1 with 2 BBs for Warwick.

Grafton 10, Woodrow Wilson 3
Grafton pulled away with a 6-run top of the sixth. Neo Klemish was 2-3 and Johnson was 3-5 with 2 2Bs and 3 RBI. 

Smithfield 5, Churchland 3
The Packers rallied from a 3-1 deficit to win. Shane Wolf was 2-4 with an RBI and Logan Deese was 2-3.

 

Region 4B Semifinals

No. 4 Hanover 5, Courtland 1
The Hawks scored 4 in the top of the seventh to advance. Three Hanover pitchers combined on the five-hitter. Seth Keller (Old Dominion) had 2 RBIs and Chase Hustead (James Madison) and Owen DeShazo (Boston College) each had a 3B in the win. Trey Burton was strong for the Cougars, holding Hanover in check until the seventh and striking out 7 in 6.1 innings.

Dinwiddie 10, King George 0
Codie Maitland threw 5 IP CG, allowing 4 H with 7 K while also going 2-2 with 2 RBIs and a 2B. Peyton Chavis and Jack Wells also had multi-hit games.

 

 

Region 4C Semifinals

James Wood 3, No. 23 Heritage (Leesburg) 2 (8)
Kaden Spaid (Davis & Elkins) walked the game off with an RBI 2B, he also went 6 IP, 2 R, 5 H, 7 K on the mound. Jayden Nixon was 2-4. Josh Rivera went 5 IP, 2 R, 2 H, 5 K for the Pride.

No. 18 Broad Run 7, Millbrook 2
Will Snyder had a home run and 3 RBIs and Connor Hale (Villanova) was 2-3 with a 2B and Andrew Market went 5.1 IP in the win while drawing 3 BBs at the plate. Ethan Burgreen had home run for Millbrook.

 

Region 4D Quarterfinals

Pulaski County 2, EC Glass 1 (8)
Pulaski walked it off on a Will Jarrells RBI single. Punky Foster went 7 IP, 1 R, 4 H, 8 K in the start for the Cougars. Mike Harpster went the distance and was very good for Glass, going 7.1 IP, 2 R, 4 H, 10 K.

 

 

Region 3A Quarterfinals

Lafayette 13, Hopewell 3
Kevin Cole struck out 5 in 3 innings of 2-hit ball. Price Whitaker was 3-5 with 5 RBIs. Bradley White and Noah Armor each had 2 hits and and RBI for the Rams. Tyler Dyson was 1-2 with a BB for Hopewell.

Tabb 2, New Kent 0 (Sunday)
Kaden Hilburger struck out 10 in 6 innings of 3-hit work to pick up the win and Xavier Martin hit a solo home run. Joe Buchman was 2-2 with a walk for New Kent

Southampton 7, Park View (South Hill) 1
Nathan Yeary was 2-4 with 3 RBIs and John Butler was 2-3 while Gavin Tomlin threw 4 IP, 1 R, 3 H, 5 K in the win. Alex Townsend was 2-2 with a BB.

Colonial Heights 11, Lakeland 0
Alex Chini went 4 IP, 0 R, 3 H, 5 K, and was 2-3 with a 2B and 2 RBIs. Blake Witt was 2-3 with 2 RBIs.

 

 

Region 3B Quarterfinals

William Monroe 6, Lightridge 1
Hunter Powell went 6 IP, 0 R, 3 H, 3 K and Blake Shifflett was 3-3 with a BB and an RBI in the win. Michael Sullivan was 1-2 with a BB in the loss.

Brentsville 19, Goochland 9
Beau Lang was 4-5 with 2 RBI and Mickey Haynes was 3-4 with 2 RBI in the win. Will Stratton was 3-4 for Goochland.

George Mason 2, Warren County 0
Peter Villa threw a 4-hit shutout with 6 K for the Mustangs and Bobby Asei was 2-3 with 2 2Bs. Ryan Curl had a strong outing in the loss, going 6 IP, 2 R, 5 H, 4 K.

Independence 13, Skyline 1
A seven-run first powered the Tigers to their first Region tournament victory. Sam Davies (St.  Joseph's) and Chad Yates combined on the 4 hitter. David Mendez was 2-4 with a 2B and Brandon Clarke (Alabama) was 2-3 with 3 RBI.

 

Region 3C Quarterfinals

Broadway 9, Wilson Memorial 0
Jacob Petersheim went 4.1 IP of 1-hit shutout ball. Bryce Suters (James Madison) was 2-4 with 2 RBI and Ryan Anderson was 2-3 with 2 RBI. Finn Irving was 1-2 with a 2B for Wilson.

Spotswood 3, Fluvanna County 1
Andrew Baugher went 6.1 IP, 1 R, 5 H as outdueled John Glasscock (West Virginia), who went 5.2 IP, 3 R, 4 H, 6 K. Luke Keister went 1-4 with an RBI and struck out the last two hitters to pick up the save. John Rittenhouse was 2-3 with a HR for Fluvanna.

Liberty Christian 10, Turner Ashby 0
Brock Duff (UVA Wise) threw a 5 inning complete game, striking out 7 and allowing 1 hit. Will Thomas was 2-3 with a home run and 4 RBIs. Logan Duff was 2-3 with a walk. Grant Thomas had TA's hit and was 1-1 with a BB.

Western Albemarle 11, Rustburg 0
Ben Winslow threw a 5 inning shutout, allowing 4 H while striking out 6. Jacob Lively was 3-3 with 3 RBI and Trevor Vernon was 2-3 with 2 2Bs and 3 RBI. Kyle Fields was 2-2 with a 2B for Rustburg.

 

 


Region 3D Quarterfinals

William Byrd 12, Cave Spring 2
This game was 2-2 after four innings before the Terriers blew it open with an 8-run fifth. Tyler Dean (Virginia Tech) went 5 IP, 2 R, 4 H, 7 K in the win while going 1-4 with 4 RBIs. Luke Taylor was 2-4 with a HR and 2 RBIs. Bryce Cooper was 1-2 with a BB for Cave Spring.

Christiansburg 5, Carroll County 1
Connor Brizendine struck out 9 in 6 innings of 4-hit ball in the win. Reagan Harris, Mason Self, and Tripp Compton each had 2 hits for the Blue Demons. Jackson Hull was 2-2 for Carroll County

No. 9 Abingdon 11, Northside 1
Chase Hungate (VCU) struck out 10 in 6 IP and Ethan Gibson (Virginia Tech) was 4-4 with 3 RBIs while Jack O'Quinn was 3-4 with 4 RBIs. Cory Sigmon was 2-3 for Northside.

Tunstall 5, Lord Botetourt 1
Raymond Ladd struck out 12 in 6.2 IP while allowing just 4 H in the win. Hunter Yeatts was 2-3 with 3 RBI and a 2B and Elijah Byrd was 2-4 with a 2B and an RBI. 

 

Region 2A Quarterfinals

Poquoson 18, Arcadia 0

Windsor 9, Prince Edward County 3
Six runs in the top of the sixth put this one away for the Dukes. Jacob Goehl was 3-3, Blake Cobb was 2-4 with a 2B and Phillip Feidt was 2-4 with 2 RBI in the win.

Nandua 10, Amelia County 0
Cade Williams struck out 11 in 4.2 innings of 2-hit ball. Dylan Ross was 3-3 with a home run and 2 RBIs and Tyler Greene was 3-3 with a 2B and 3 RBIs. Jacob Webb and Colt Cundiff were 1-2 for Amelia.

Randolph-Henry 3, King William 1
Tyler Case struck out 11 in a complete game 3-hitter. Lucas Skelton was 1-2 with a BB and an RBI. Kaleb Shelton was solid, going 5 IP, 3 R, 3 H, 6 K for King William.

 

 

Region 2C First Round

Nelson County 12, Patrick County 4
The Governors put this game away with 7 runs in the bottom of the sixth. Blayze McGarry was 3-5 with 2 RBIs and Jack Rodgers was 2-5 with a HR and 3 RBIs. Nash Thompson was 3-3 with an RBI in the loss.

Glenvar 1, Gretna 0
Dawson Anderson went 6 inning scoreless allowing 8 H with 3 K in the win. Chris Crews was the tough-luck loser, going 6 IP, 1 R, 4 H, 4 K and also 2-3 at the plate.

Dan River 6, James River (Buchanan) 5
Dan River scored two in the bottom of the seventh and walked it off on an error. Dylan Howerton was 2-3 and Reece Harris had 2 RBI in the win. Gabe Sebastino (Marymount) was 2-4 with a 2B and an RBI.

Appomattox 10, Alleghany 7
Alex Caruso was 3-3 with a BB and 3 RBIs and missed the Cycle by a home run. Carter Berry and Ethan Walton also had multi-hit games in the win. Jack Ross and Andrew Middleton were both 3-4 in the loss.

Radford 5, Giles 1
Addison Lester threw 3.2 innings of hitless relief in the win and Tate Mannon went 3-4 with 2 RBI. 

 


Region 2D

Gate City 17, Richlands 3
Carter Babb was 3-4 with 2 2Bs and 5 RBIs. Ryan Jessee, Ethan Fleming, and Isaac Vincent each had multi-hit games in the win. Bowen Tarter was 2-3 with an RBI for Richlands.

No. 7 Lebanon 12, Lee 1
Preston Steele (Virginia Tech) was 2-3 with a 3B, HR, and 3 RBI in the win. 

 

Region 1A Quarterfinals

Rappahannock 8, Middlesex 0
Wyatt Bunch and Caleb Turner each threw 3 innings of 1-hit ball, striking out 6 and 5 respectively. Slade Keyser was 3-4 with 2 RBIs and Zack Smith was 2-3 with a 2B an RBI, and 2 BBs. Jarrett Williams was 1-3 with 2B in the loss.

Lancaster 19, Washington & Lee (Montross) 3
Brendan Walker was 3-3 with a BB and an RBI and Sean Thomas, Gavyn Hathaway, and Ben Pittman each had 3 RBI. 

Essex 6, Colonial Beach 1
Tahraun Hammond threw a complete game, going 1 R, 5 H, 6 K while also going 2-3 at the plate with a BB and an RBI. Gavin Stone was 1-3 with 2 RBIs in the win. Jace Jett was 2-3 for Colonial Beach.

Mathews 10, West Point 2
Aiden West was 2-3 with 2 RBI and 2 BB and Daniel Moughon threw 3.1 IP of scoreless 3-hit ball to open the game. Travis Lee and Evan Meier each had 2 hits in the loss.

 

Region 1C Semifinals

Grayson County 11, Narrows 1
Andrew Shaffner (NC State) was 3-4 with 2 2Bs, a HR, and 2 RBI and Caleb Cheeks, Devin Poe, and Tristan Widner each had 2 hits in the win. 

Auburn 5, Covington 0
Reed Underwood threw a 4-hit complete game shutout, striking out 9 for the Eagles while also having a 2B at the plate. Rusty Marshall was 2-3 with 2 RBI. Skyler Barnett was good in the loss, going 6.2 IP, 2 R, 2 H, 5 K while also going 2-3 at the plate.

 

Region 1D Quarterfinals

Honaker 12, JI Burton 5
Alex Barton had 10 K in 5.2 IP and was 2-3 with 2 RBIs. Ethan Compton was 3-4 with 3 RBIs in the win. Chris Branham was 2-3 with a BB and 2 RBIs for Burton.

Holston 11, Grundy 4
Brycen Richardson struck out 11 in a 2-hit complete game. Dustin Bolt and Braxton Vannoy each had 2 hits and 2 RBIs in the win.
