It is the final few days of action here in Virginia, with VHSL holding its State Championships this week after rain in the southern half of the State wrecked last weekend. Today's scoreboard features all results from the State semifinal action.
THursDAY JUNE 13
Class 1
Lancaster 3, Patrick Henry (Glade Spring) 1
Senior Matthew Kleinfelter (James Madison) allowed just 5 hits in a complete game victory. Brendan Walker was 1-3 with a 3B, an RBI, and a run scored.
Auburn 4, Riverheads 3
The Eagles scored 3 in the bottom of the seventh to come back and walk off into the Championship Game, capped by a 2-RBI Trevor Miles base hit to win the game. Miles finished 2-4 with a 2B and 2 RBIs. Adam Painter was 3-3 with 2 RBIs for Riverheads.
Class 2
Lebanon 11, Page County 1, Final
Matthew Buchanan (Virginia) struck out 8 in a complete game victory. Anthony Houchins was 3-4 with a home run and 4 RBIs. Preston Steele (Virginia Tech), Hunter Hertig, and Chandler Morrison also had multi-hit games for the Pioneers.
Chatham 11, Stuart's Draft 7, Final
Grayson Reed, Matt Arnold, Brae Adkins, and AJ Potojecki (Longwood) all had multiple RBIs for the Cavaliers and Adkins and Graham Dalton were each 3-4 in the win. Potojecki struck out the side in the seventh to lock down the win.
Class 3
Tabb 4, Brookville 3, Final
Tabb hung on in the seventh as Brookville nearly rallied to a comeback win. Ben Wilson threw 5.2 scoreless innings to pick up the win, Logan Bartelis was 2-3 and Connor Kennedy hit a home run for the Tigers. Jared Glinski was 3-4 for Brookville and Kevin Breimann hit a home run.
Fluvanna County 5, Brentsville District 4, Final
Jacob Critzer (Lincoln Memorial) hit a walk-off home run in the seventh to cap a game in which he went 2-2 with 2 BBs. Andrew Ward (VCU) struck out 5 in 2.2 innings of relief, allowing just 1 hit to pick up the win. Billy Hoad (Wilson College) was 2-4 and Sam Beard belted a home run for Brentsville.
Class 4
Lafayette 8, No. 2 Liberty Christian 2
Senior Geo Rivera (Old Dominion) struck out 11 in 6.2 innings of 4-hit ball while also going 2-4 with 2 RBIs. Ozzie Torres was 2-4 and Thomas McLaughlin had 2 RBIs.
No. 15 Riverside 3, Great Bridge 0
Senior Gunner Canary threw a 5-hit shutout with stirkeouts. Carson Swank (Yale) was 1-1 with an RBI and 2 BBs and Michael Walsh was 2-2 with a walk. Jake Perry was 2-3 with a 2B for the Wildcats and Landon Higgerson (Radford) struck out 7 in 5 IP.
Class 5
No. 12 Stafford 11, No. 5 Hickory 10
The Indians walked off into the Title Game when a Grant Fuller grounder was misplayed as Stafford rallied from a 10-7 sixth inning deficit to move on. James Baker was 3-4 with 3 RBIs and Tucker Sullivan was 1-2 with 3 BB and 2 RBIs as well. Tyler Bowes was 2-4 with a home run and 3 RBIs for Hickory and Mason Dunaway (James Madison) had a home run for the Hawks as well.
Mills Godwin 5, No. 14 Halifax County 4
Bryce Safferwich (James Madison) delivered a walk-off 2-RBI double in the bottom of the seventh. Safferwich finished the game 2-4 and Noah Cornwell (James Madison) was 2-3 with an RBI. Spencer Trentadue went 3 scoreless innings of 2-hit ball.

No. 8 Westfield 7, Ocean Lakes 0, 2nd Inning, PPD
No. 13 James River (Midlothian) vs No. 9 Lake Braddock, PPD
