Scouting Report

PBR Future Games 8/1/18

Athletic projectable frame at 6-foot-4, 197-pounds. One of the most exciting prospects that came through the Future Games. High end skill set across the board with a rawness that shows best years are yet to come. Ran a 6.89 60-yard dash. Hits from an athletic set up with bat on shoulder. Heel lift to swing. Explosive hand speed at the plate with a direct path and some extension through contact. quiet lower half with explosiveness. Power to pull side. Exit velocity of 100 mph. Atheltic actions in the outfield. Clean exchange with sound arm action and life on throws from the outfield, getting up to 95 mph. In game showed flashes of what he could be with loud contact in game. On the mound has a controlled compact delivery with average leg kick.Tight, sound arm action with lightining arm speed. Smooth lower half and backside drive. Inconsistent at getting hips through and over front side. Fastball was inconsistent in zone but showed life up to 93 mph. Breaking ball showed flashes of a dominant secondary pitch up to 75 mph with 11/5 shape. A draft prospect already. Still has areas of his game to clean up that, once it happens, could turn Carter into a higher end draft prospect.

VA/DC Scout Blog 4/25/18

Carter jumped onto our scene as one of the top performers at the preseason All-State this past February. Walking onto the field he is instantly noticeable with his long and lengthy athletic frame. At the plate he hit from an athletic, slightly open setup. Its a late with somewhat rushed movements with leg kick that slightly opens up at footstrike in his load. But once the hands go, its an explosion. Direct path with fast bat speed and free hands. Nice extension and shows the ability to drive the ball. He does have a tendency to pull off the ball at times. Carter is quickly rising up the boards as one of the top prospects in the state of Virginia. There is still rawness to the game that makes for potential to be a special ball player. The sheer athleticism he brings gives plenty of reason for excitement. Needs to cut down swing and miss. Has two way potential that can pitch in the 86-89 range and has reportedly been up to 91mph.

Preseason All-State 2/17/18

Carter is 6-3 with a lanky frame that is projectable and he still has plenty of room to add strength to. Hits from the right side from an upright balanced stance. Short stride on line, loads back with a wrap, some rhythm to his swing. Explosive lower half and good balance during his swing. Very short to the ball, explosive batspeed, works slightly uphill with good extension through the ball, whippy bat with some power potential to all fields, exit velocity was 91. In the outfield, gets behind the ball and fields with above average hands, quick clean exchange working through the ball. Throws from high three-quarters arm slot, lightning quick arm, ball jumps out of hand, outfield velocity was 92. Has some speed, ran 4.39 home to first. On the mound, throws from a high three-quarters arm slot, short back side arm action that is a bit stiff, low elbow, lightning fast arm stroke with great length at release, normal effort to his delivery. Shoulders are level and on line, lands square with an athletic finish. Fastball was 86-88 with good downward angle and some late run on the ball. Change-up was 70-73 with some fade, he slowed his arm a bit to throw it. Breaking ball was 68-71 and was thrown with armspeed and 11/5 action.
