The Prep Baseball Virginia/DC staff makes their way across the Commonwealth and DC throughout the spring to assist high school players in gathering evaluations, including video and some data, that allow our staff to assist in the potential recruitment of student-athletes.

Take a look at a few games and players that stood out over the past week of play.

*Schools and player names are in alphabetical order.*

*If a player does not have a profile, we do not have the ability to feature them in a story.*

Cave Spring

Evan Lee OF / LHP / Cave Spring, VA / 2027

Logan Meinster OF / RHP / Cave Spring, VA / 2027

Multi-hit day, including a big triple. More contact bat and showed a solid feel for the barrel. Was on time and used the whole field in approach. Got out the box and plays quicker than his recorded 7.3 60 time.

Centreville

Caleb Bang RHP / CENTREVILLE HIGH, VA / 2026

Michael Gambone LHP / 1B / Centreville, VA / 2026

Cox

Christian Dewey OF / 1B / Frank W Cox, VA / 2025

Tripp Faison C / OF / Frank W. Cox, VA / 2026

Had the best hitting performance of the day. Two extra base hits, one for a backside double and the other one for a no doubt homerun to center. Put himself in quality counts and took advantage of them throughout the game. Breakout spring coming for the athletic and versatile junior.

MJ LEMKE / Cox, VA / 2026

Went 3.2 scoreless innings. The Richmond commit held velo well and even ticked up a touch after the first inning. Sat 85-88 mph during the outing. Displayed a power changeup at 81-82 mph and that appeared to be his best and most comfortable secondary pitch. Did show a little bit of feel for spin later in the outing. Athletic mover that works with intent.

First Colonial

Ryan Dugan 2B / 3B / FIRST COLONIAL HIGH, VA / 2025

Cade Howlett RHP / OF / FIRST COLONIAL HIGH, VA / 2025

Landstown

Kyle Flora OF / 2B / Landstown, VA / 2025

Colin Kim OF / LHP / LANDSTOWN HIGH, VA / 2025

Had a really strong day, collecting three hits, including two backside singles and a solo HR to RCF. From start to finish he put together quality at-bats versus solid arms. The bat to ball skills have always been there, but it is good to see him turn the barrel and impact the ball to the pull side.

Northside

Camden Spangler 2B / RHP / NORTHSIDE HIGH, VA / 2027

Three innings of work and was 83-85 T87 with the fastball. Short arm action and has some deception. Moved fastballs around the zone well and relied on it a little more since he did not have a great feel for the breaking ball during this outing. Was able to land the changeup and that pitch helped keep hitters off the fastball early on.

Brett Taylor SS / 3B / NORTHSIDE HIGH, VA / 2027

Ocean Lakes

Ryan Gocio C / 3B / OCEAN LAKES HIGH, VA / 2025

Patriot

Ben Bosse C / 1B / Patriot, VA / 2026

Sam Capuano RHP / 1B / PATRIOT HIGH, VA / 2027

6-foot, 157-pound frame with some athleticism and proportional strength present. Three-quarters slot, arm works and has really low intent delivery. Fastball topped out at 80 with a lot of 79s. Slider has the same armspeed as the fastball, with late hard 10/4 bite, pitch ran 72-73 mph. The first trip through the order was solid, throwing about 80-90% sliders, punched out two in the first inning and got multiple swing and misses.

Jacob Peacher SS / 2B / Patriot, VA / 2026

Luke Sullivan 1B / OF / PATRIOT HIGH, VA / 2025

Probably more corner long term, but played center and handled himself well. At the plate, lefthanded hitter, gap to gap approach and showed power with ability to drive the ball to both fields. Wind probably robbed him of a home run and possibly two. Strong at contact and works up through the ball with extension. Not too much, but uphill enough to generate loft and carry. Can cover multiple zones and showed adjustability in the swing.

Robinson

Evan Cassidy SS / 3B / Robinson, VA / 2027

Keagan Fitzgerald SS / RHP / Robinson, VA / 2026

Woodbridge

Kory Barbier C / 3B / Woodbridge, VA / 2025

Caelan Goodwin-Slater RHP / OF / Woodbridge Senior High School, VA / 2025

Athletic frame, has added some strength in the lower half and looks the part. Smooth start to delivery, accelerates through leg lift and is explosive down the slope. Has some crossfire and hides the ball which creates deception and makes his velocity play up. Extremely short arm action with some intent and effort. Fastball was 84-85, touched an 86 once, but it got on hitters quick. Pitch really played well at the top of the zone where it tends to ride. Mix was very heavy fastball, only threw a few sliders, which had sharp 10/4 break and solid shape. Got swing and miss with both pitches.
