Dan Jurik
Scouting Director - Pacific Northwest

The 2021 Future Games is a one-of-a-kind event will feature the best uncommitted 2023 prospects and select 2024 prospects from our 40-plus state coverage area. The Future Games will take place on July 28th through July 31st at LakePoint Sports in Cartersville, GA.

The Future Games is the premier summer scouting event for Class of 2023 prospects and select 2024 prospects. In a typical year, more than 320 college coaches from all over the country are in attendance. The event is huge draw for college with many of the top uncommitted players from across the country in attendance. The Prep Baseball Report services are also subscribed by more than 800 colleges and pro scouts. Last year, due to COVID, scouts weren't able to be in attendance but they were able to follow along through our online streaming platform that is hooked up on every field at this premier facility.

Players will also receive maximum visibility from college coaches all over the country, in addition to being promoted through the Prep Baseball Report multimedia platforms.

Each state team will play three games. Day 1, all position players will be put through a showcase workout in which they will run 60s, take batting practice and be evaluated at their primary position. The following days players will compete in live game setting vs teams & top players from other states.

Here is a preview of the roster from the Pacific Northwest which features both Washington & Oregon prospects...

future games - Pacific Northwest

Washington Prospects

Keegan Agen OF / RHP / Marysville Getchell, WA / 2023

Long, wiry athlete who has made an impressive jump with his physical tools in the past year. Agen profiles well to the OF and has the potential to get much bigger and stronger before his prep days are done. Offensively he flashes more gap to gap power at the moment but can lift the ball to his pull-side when he decides to get more aggressive. Solid runner once he gets underway. He has long, easy strides and cruises both in the OF and on the bases.

Adam Alharbi SS / RHP / Cedar Park Christian , WA / 2024

High energy player who attacks the game with a chip on his shoulder. Alharbi is a quick twitch defender who roams the dirt with noticeable confidence. His lean, compact frame helps him stay light on his feet with quick actions throughout the exchange. Offensively, he has some juice in his barrel and really gets his entire body involved in the swing. There’s controlled violence in his barrel and he understands how to spray contact all over the field.

Brady Foster RHP / OF / O'Dea , WA / 2023

One of the best pure arm talents we’ve seen in the last year of coverage. Foster is an ultra projectable RHP who might just be scratching the surface of what he’s capable of. His size and frame make him a strong OF prospect as well. He really shined in our workout back in June when he ripped down 90-92 mph throws from the OF. He’s been up to 87 on the bump but given his physicality, it’s easy to believe that there is more on the way. The aggressive arm action and hand speed out front also helps him create tight spin on his secondary offerings. Look for Foster to be big riser in the state rankings with a strong performance.

Miles Gosztola LHP / OF / West Seattle, WA / 2023

Strong, tall and lanky. Gosztola puts up gaudy numbers on the mound thanks in large part to his competitive demeanor and ability to command his offerings around the zone. Working with a whippy arm from a high, over the top finish, Gosztola finds the bottom of the zone for early strikes and understands how to generate swings and misses when ahead. The velocity has steadily been climbing in the last few months into the 83-84 range. The use of his secondary offerings helps the velo play up a bit more and it likely won’t be long before he gets stronger & becomes an even tougher match-up.

Braden Hartley OF / RHP / Rochester , WA / 2023

2-way prospect who does everything well on the diamond. Hartley first came onto the scene last Fall with an impressive performance from both the OF and on the mound. Then earlier this summer he showed added strength in all areas and reaffirmed his prospect status. Offensively he puts a simple move on the ball & creates easy bat speed. He’s strong at the point of contact and works to the middle of the field with a line-drive approach. On the mound, the arm has a clean, continuous path and he shows feel for one of the more consistent breaking balls we’ve seen so far.

Terence Hayes Jr RHP / SS / Liberty , WA / 2023

Wide framed with long, loose levers. Hayes does everything with a smooth, relaxed demeanor and fits what you’re looking for in a projectable prospect. His barrel works on a flat path through the zone from the left-side and he rotates well through his core. Defensively he works with a deliberate tempo and maintains body control. On the mound, he’s been up to 85 with a loose arm action and aggressive finish. As with more prospects from colder weather areas, the frame has a ton of room for growth and he seems capable of making big jumps in a shorter period of time.

Tyler Jones SS / RHP / Woodinville , WA / 2024

Of the more advanced prospects for the state in the ’24 class. Jones was starting at SS for a loaded varsity squad over at Woodinville this spring. Which speaks volumes about where he is at with his development. A functional athlete with balanced tools. Jones has a disciplined approach at the plate and natural feel for hitting. Defensively the arm strength is exceptional and he can likely stick long term on the left-side even as he continues to get bigger. He can also toe the rubber and get things done on the mound. We last saw Jones pitch back in the summer of ’20 but even then as a rising 8th grader he was up to 84. Has the potential to be one of the breakout performers at the event.

Luke Klooster C / RHP / O Dea , WA / 2024

Multi-positional athlete with exciting tools. Klooster really excels when it comes to raw arm strength and his potential to stop the run game. When he’s not handling catching duties, he can flip to the OF where he speed and aggressiveness plays well or jump on the mound and rip off an impressive FB/Cutter combo. Offensively he’s still tightening up his approach but there’s no denying the pure bat speed and potential. Plenty of quickness in the hands and his shorter levels help him stay direct to the ball.

Luke Sketchley LHP / 1B / Chief Sealth , WA / 2023

You’ll be hard pressed to find more raw power potential from the left-side than what Sketchley has to offer. At 6’3, 250, he creates well above average bat speed and pairs that with leverage from his imposing frame. It’s loud contact with a heavy barrel thru the zone. On the mound, Sketchley works from a low ¾ slot with a tumbling FB. Pairs his FB with a sweeping breaker. Works down the mound with intent and gets through the ball aggressively. Also defends well over at 1B with sound footwork and a wide catch radius.

Nathan Woodside C / 3B / Woodinville , WA / 2024

Powerful, compact athlete with impressive pound-for-pound strength in his frame. Shows bat speed and pop from the left-side with a tight, uphill swing and consistent lift. Stays tall in his set-up and creates as much leverage as possible. Defensively, he’s quick and agile behind the plate with a speedy exchange into his throwing motion. Gets behind the ball and shows carry on his throws down. Also has the ability to handle INF duties at 3B or 2B as needed where he shows active footwork and arm strength.

BUDDY BRANDS

RHP / 3B / TIGARD, OR / 2023

Buddy Brands ascension to the top of the state rankings has been well documented in the past year. The sturdy RHP is a workhouse on the bump with clean, repeatable actions and a smooth delivery. The arm works short & compact after hand break, helping him be on-time with his landing. The ball comes out of hand with easy effort & his FB gets noticeable carry thru the zone. The consistency of his breaking ball has been a big separator for him and allows him to turnover a line-up without getting too predictable. He’s also shown power at the plate with his size & bat speed while being a more than capable defender at 3B.

NATHAN DAVIS
C / OF / SUNSET, OR / 2023

Switch-hitting catchers are a highly sought after prospect profile. So right away, Davis checks a lot of boxes. Defensively he’s a very sound receiver and controls his body behind the dish. It’s a seamless transition out of the crouch and into the throwing motion. As with most switch hitters Davis generates more lift from the left-side. But he can control the barrel equally as well as a RHH and it will be a huge advantage moving forward as he can avoid tough arm-side pitching match-ups.

BROCK LEITGEB
C / 3B / JESUIT , OR / 2023

Polished catching prospect who has made steady progress with his offensive game since first attending a workout last summer. Leitgeb has an ideal frame behind the plate that allows him to be a compact target while carrying enough strength to handle the rigors of catching. The catch & release skills are advanced for his age & translate well in-game. Offensively he swings with a tight, compact swing and really keeps his hands inside of the ball.
