This Tuesday, undefeated Gig Harbor hosted Bellarmine Prep in the first game of a back-to-back matchup. Both sides had standout starting pitchers with upside and some intruiging talent up and down the rosters, with Gig Harbor ultimately securing a 5-3 victory. Below are scouting notes on some of the standout players from Tuesday's action.
Gig Harbor vs. Bellarmine Prep (3.25.25)
Gig Harbor
'26 RHP Quentin Bockhorn (Uncommitted)
The junior arm was dominant on the mound, finishing with a final line of 4 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 3 BB, 9 K. Bockhorn stuck to a FB/CB combination, going back and forth in all counts with both offerings to keep hitters guessing. Worked from a quick-tempo wind, with a longer hand break and low-slot release. Stays behind the FB well, giving it true 12 o'clock spin and ride up in the zone. FB sat 83-85 but touched 87 MPH, with the CB at 69-73. Impressive performance for a player off to a hot start this spring.

Natural ride on the FB with a lower slot release. CB sharp downward action. No runs allowed with 9 K through 4 IP@QuentinBockhorn | @PB_Uncommitted pic.twitter.com/44oQx5p7Fc
'25 SS Jayce Corley (Uncommitted)
Standout position player talent despite going hitless on the afternoon. Smooth glove with quick hands and some arm strength shown both pre-game and in-game. Vocal leader throughout with confidence in overall game. Long, wiry frame with some athleticism. RH swing with weight stacked over rear leg and a high leg lift load pre-contact. Line drive approach, just missed a couple of knocks from the top of the order. Uncommitted senior to circle.

Puts one in play to plate a run for the Tides in the 2nd inning. Senior also showed a smooth defensive game and was a vocal leader throughout @CorleyJayce | @PB_Uncommitted pic.twitter.com/M2SDyz8zuZ
'25 1B/RHP Ethan Mar (Tacoma CC Commit)
Physical senior played 1B and looked the part of an upperclass college commit. Sound defensively with some range for 1B spot. Finished 1-3 with an RBI and run scored at the plate. Strong, powerful levers at the dish with power present when he's able to elevate. Quiet confidence around the field. Already hitting over .350 with 3 XBH in early season action.
'28 LHP Max Bergford (Uncommitted)
Intruiging upside shown from freshman arm despite some tough results on the afternoon. 6'4 lefty had a compact arm slot and 3/4 release, giving some natural run on the FB. Ran the heater up to 84 MPH, but was mostly 81-82 MPH. Development of the offspeed will be the next step for the young arm, but did flash an occasional CB at 68-70 MPH. Plenty more to go get as frame matures and gets more athletic.

Some tough results this afternoon, but showcased poise and intriguing arsenal for underclassman status. Pounded the zone with a compact arm action and controlled finish pic.twitter.com/3UFi2fSb0n
'25 RHP/DH Cole Krilich (Uncommitted)
Senior came up big on both sides of the baseball to help the Tides secure a victory. Middle of the order bat finished 1-2 with an RBI, also reaching base via HBP. Righty lets the ball travel, with a hard shot the other way for an RBI single as his highlight offensively. Came into the game with two outs in the 7th as Bellarmine brought the go-ahead run to the plate, and induced a game ending fly ball to win it for Gig Harbor, with a FB sitting in the low 80's.

'27 RHP Joshua Morales (Uncommitted)
Real upside shown from the righty arm despite some mixed results overall. FB fluctuated a bit in velocity, topping out at 89 MPH, though it sat more in the 85-86 range. Four pitch mix shown with CB/SL both used late in counts. CH was used sparingly, sitting in the low 80's. Athletic downhill mover with a high 3/4 slot release. Low spin rates gathered in preseason look suggest more velocity could come with added strength and maturity. Arm to follow.

'25 INF Xavier Espindola (Uncommitted)
The senior was the offensive star of the game, finishing 3-4 on the afternoon with three singles, an RBI and a run scored. On a slower offensive day for the Lions, Espindola was on time, driving the ball to all fields from the RH side. Carried a heavier barrel through the zone with an abbreviated finish. Shortstop is now hitting .583 in early season play.

'26 RHP Lawson Jenson (Uncommitted)
Almost single-handedly kept his team in the game with 3.1 hitless innings in relief on the mound. Some effective wildness, threw enough strikes to minimize baserunners with a three-pitch mix. FB sat 80-83 with some run. CH had great arm action with run in the low 70's, and the SL was a clear third offering with shorter bite in the low 70's as well. Struck out three in the outing with a quick, whippy arm action.

'25 OF Spencer Truebenbach (Lassen CC Commit)
Provided some speed and athleticism atop the order and in CF for the Lions. Lefty bat reached base three times with two walks and a HBP. Scored a run late for Bellarmine and was aggressive on the bases. Covered ground in the outfield, including multiple ranging plays in the gaps.
'26 C Aaron Barnhart (Uncommitted)
Finished the game 1-4 from the cleanup spot, driving in one of three runs on the day for Bellarmine. Some bat speed and looser wrists shown from the RH side despite just the one hit to show for it. Medium frame that moved well behind the plate defensively. Can really take a jump with continued progression in frames and controlling the run game, but the bat plays at the high school level.
