Coaches Outlook: “I have a lot of confidence going into this year with high expectations. Last year we finished just short of getting a shot to head to the tri cities to compete for a state title and some of these guys still have that feeling embedded in them. The group this year is full of young and talented players eager to get their shot of competing at the end of May. Our returners got to experience the benefits of winning a league title and where that places us heading into the playoffs and this group will be no different with those same expectations. This will be a heavy underclassmen group that is completely capable of competing into the later half of May. ” – Tyler Parsons, Head Coach

Overall Summary

Kelso enters the 2025 season with high expectations after a state quarterfinal finish a season ago. The Hilanders are led by '26 RHP/OF and Ole Miss commit Bryce Collins. Collins is the second ranked junior in the state of Washington, and features a devastating arsenal at the high school level, running his fastball into the low 90's. Collins will also be in the middle of the order offensively. Apart from Collins, look for sophomore RHP Adam Swanson to have a breakout spring on the mound. The righty had a standout performance at the recent PNW Preseason All-State event, showing a big time jump in stuff while filling up the strike zone. Several new arms should step up to cover bullpen innings for the Hilanders. Zaden Hoover is an upperclassman bat that returns after manning second base a season ago, while senior OF Elliot Hegdahl looks to step into a bigger role, moving from left to center field. Kelso faces some interesting matchups this spring, including bouts with Skyview and Capital. Expect the Hilanders to have another strong regular season and make noise in the 3A state playoffs this spring.
